Guest cmberry20 Posted October 28, 2010 Report Posted October 28, 2010 Got a SF on original ROM so theres lots of useless Apps (usually Oranges stuff) that gets started when i turn the phone off. Is the a good App killer that can be set up to automatically kill these tasks when the phone restarts or do i have to do in manually each time. Cheers. Berry
Guest xeyaztian Posted October 28, 2010 Report Posted October 28, 2010 You could remove the Orange Apps... http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blad...-san-francisco/ Or if you want to keep them then use Advanced Task Killer, it lets you do many at once! And it can be made to run every 30 minutes aswell or every hour!
Guest cmberry20 Posted October 28, 2010 Report Posted October 28, 2010 Thanks for that. Will give it a go. Arse!!! Market is being a pain & wont let me download Busy Box.... grrrrrrrr

Guest cmberry20 Posted October 28, 2010 Report Posted October 28, 2010 Thanks again. However, but Market still not working. Odd that it worked up until i download Universal Androot. Now nothing seems to be download. I'm going to uninstall it. aaarrhhhhhh.... this is bloody ridiculous!!! Instead of getting a error message saying ''Download Unsuccessful'' it now bombs out with no message at all. Then, when i go back in to Market to re-start the download it says 'Cancel Download' - as if its still trying to download the file - BUT ITS NOT!!! WHY IS NOTHING EVER F%$KIN EASY!!!!!
Guest meinnit Posted October 28, 2010 Report Posted October 28, 2010 When I got my Pulse I was quite annoyed when I found apps randomly starting up in the background without my knowledge so I decided to do a bit of research. It turns out that Android supports something called Intents which are basically triggers. So when a certain event occurs (eg. SMS is received) Android will fire off apps that are registered against this event. The problem is many developers register their app against many events for no apparent reason which is why you see so many apps running randomly. Developers abuse this feature IMO. I purchased Autostarts from the Market to disable apps that I didn't want running on certain events. Obviously some apps genuinely need to be launched on certain events (eg. a wifi widget on wifi state change) however I would suggest turning off the apps that don't need to be launched.. http://www.appbrain.com/app/autostarts/com...roid.autostarts
Guest meinnit Posted October 28, 2010 Report Posted October 28, 2010 About the Market issue..I would suggest keep trying until it works!!
Guest cmberry20 Posted October 28, 2010 Report Posted October 28, 2010 Market now seems to work with 3G. But not Wi-Fi. Is this a known issue as i'm not happy about that at all!!
Guest xeyaztian Posted October 28, 2010 Report Posted October 28, 2010 I dont know what to suggest, when I deleted my Internet, my market stopped working for half a day, but it works now and has done since I got the Internet back on it, are you using the Orange network?? Sounds stupid but, turn phone off, take battery out, put back in restart and try again?

Oh good, now I don't know as i've never had a wifi connection but I have read that Wifi is not always stable on the San Francisco... Hows it going now then??? :)

I have a t-mobile sim in my San Fran. Thanks
