How to make widgets auto refresh themselves?

I cant seem to get my Weather or digital clock widgets to auto refresh, i have to do it manually which is a bit of a pain.

I un ticked them from my task killers hence they are always operating in the background yet they still wont auto refresh.

Is there a way to do this or are the apps not smart enough?

I am using the stock weather and news app and a digital clock app from the market.

Auto refresh is dependant on each apps individual settings. Check through the settings menu of the widget/apps and the option should be there
