Guest myfeetsmell Posted October 29, 2010 Report Posted October 29, 2010 Hi guys i wonder if you can help For the last few weeks my san fran has been working great, rooted and running pauls r4 custom rom installed. This was all fine until this afternoon, the phone froze for a while and couldnt do anything, so i decided to remove the battery and reboot, when i did this it got as far as the green bot but no further, so tried again removing the battery and rebooting but still with no joy. Anyway I thought try and reboot into clockwork mod by holding the volume down and power button but still only getting to the green bot. Anyway i thought i would try the clockworkmod recovery to see if this would work which when followed through in command line comes back with successfully accomplished, but when you command line reboot it reboots but only to green bit again, and no further. It seems that the sudden failure might mean hardware fault but I wanted to post first for any helpful tips or ideas before i try and return the phone. I dont think there will be a problem returning the phone as it doesnt boot past the green bot so cannot be seen whats been done on the phone Anyway guys any ideas would be greatfully recieved Thanks Phil
Guest mELIANTE Posted October 29, 2010 Report Posted October 29, 2010 (edited) Do you use any task killer? Maybe it messed the software up. Does it get connected to the pc in fastboot mode? (holding vol up while turning it on) Edited October 29, 2010 by mELIANTE
Guest myfeetsmell Posted October 29, 2010 Report Posted October 29, 2010 Do you use any task killer? Maybe it messed the software up. Does it get connected to the pc in fastboot mode? (holding vol up while turning it on) Thanks for your reply, yeh i did use a task killer on the phone but never had problems with using it as far as im aware. It does connect fine to the pc in fastboot mode, and if i try and follow through with recovery then it comes up successful, and you can reboot using command line but still only booting to green bot. What i have noticed is that the reboot seems very quick from green bit to blank screen back to green bot.
Guest mELIANTE Posted October 29, 2010 Report Posted October 29, 2010 Maybe if you tried a full flash again, I mean, reflash the fastboot and clockworkmod via adb.
Guest myfeetsmell Posted October 29, 2010 Report Posted October 29, 2010 Maybe if you tried a full flash again, I mean, reflash the fastboot and clockworkmod via adb. have tried flashing back to factory to see if that would be successful and comes back successful again through command line. But once you reboot the phone after nothing happens again apart from getting to green droid. It seems it cannot get any further for some reason????
Guest mELIANTE Posted October 29, 2010 Report Posted October 29, 2010 I don't know what it could be, I'm not that good with Android :)

Guest myfeetsmell Posted October 29, 2010 Report Posted October 29, 2010 hiya Fransisco tried that but with no joy. it seems it cant get any further than the bot still Might have to bite the bullet and risk sending it back to orange
Guest Fransis.co Posted October 29, 2010 Report Posted October 29, 2010 Can you boot into ClockworkMod when disconnected from USB ?
Guest myfeetsmell Posted October 30, 2010 Report Posted October 30, 2010 (edited) Can you boot into ClockworkMod when disconnected from USB ? HI Fran yeh the phone does connect to the laptop with no problems and you can root it with whichever method you choose, it always comes up as successful but when you reboot the phone it just sticks at the green bot and goes no further, no animations or anything. I have tried with clockwork mod when booting by holding down the volume button and power button but doesnt go to the clockwork menu, just still sticks at the green bot Edited October 30, 2010 by myfeetsmell
Guest Fransis.co Posted October 30, 2010 Report Posted October 30, 2010 A number of owners have reported problems with badly formatted SD cards, causing it to hang at boot. I can only, and lastly, suggest a newly formatted SD Card and start again. Sorry, fella, but it sounds like you`ve tried all other options.

Thanks for your help guys, i have tried several different sd cards in the phone including the one from my mrs phone which works fine in hers but still no joy with mine. Been on the phone to orange today, god what a farce, guy kept trying to get me to constantly tale out the battery sim and sd card and try rebooting, then got advised to visit an orange store to let them look, who then tell me there is nothing they can do except phone customer services again and go through all the farce of trying different things to get the phone working. To top it off when he realised it wouldnt work he then says phone back on monday as they cant order a replacement handset on weekends??? can you belive that. Oh yeh the payg help desk is in a foriegn country by the way, on weekends anyway so made it more difficult. Lets see what monday brings ha ha
