Boot Image Problems

Hey, just wondering what people have had to do in order to get a boot image (which is part of a zip to be flashed by clockwork) to actually work. I was a little bit underwhelmed with the official implementation of app2sd in Froyo so I'm trying to add apps2ext to the Froyo Alpha ROM (slightly pointless in the eyes of some but I'm quite impressed with how usable it is for an alpha). I went with using the direct apps2sd method to implement it and whilst I can happily edit the init.rc and rebuild the boot image - it never actually boots when flashed in the zip.

Anyone got any ideas? :)
