Pulse sd-card memory corruption

Hi All,

I'm wondering whether anyone here has come across a release and/or mod kernel build that has a fix to the SD Card corruption issue that seems to be a bane of many android phone users, besides me and my pulse ? The problem appears to be around for quite some time, and there is also a link to a linux patch that may be applicable:

http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=2500

Right now, after having tried different SD Cards with my T-mobile Pulse (running t-mobile stock 1.5 with 2.6.27-perf kernel), with no difference I am concluding that any reliance on sd card for persistence storage is a high risk strategy for Android (and ruling out A2SD for me).

Thanks,

W.

Have to say that this is the first I've heard about any specific Android related memory card corruption.

Anyone?

On my pulse the problem is reproducible, generally when trying to capture video or some other app that is intense in writing to the sd card.

This seems consistent with the problems reported by many in the cited thread.

Thanks.

Perhaps it is just that your Pulse is faulty.

I thought of that too, but a buddy of mine with the puls also has the same issue (across a variety of phones), as do apparently the 1000s of users logging that issue on the google dev site. It's said by some to be a known Linux kernel bug...

Considered moving to a 2.1 custom ROM? My Pulse is running 2.6.29-perf. A custom 2.1 rom with swap enabled is on a different planet to the 1.5 experience anyway so certainly worth doing. I can recommend FLB-Mod1 in these forums.

Of course we can only consider our own experiences and I have never had your problem on either 1.5 or 2.1 - and my SD card is heavily loaded these days with A2SD and swap enabled.

Kewl. Thanks. Will try that (and keep fingers crossed).
