Have you DE-certified your SPV?

Its been quite a while since we decertified/cracked/hacked/unlocked the SPV to run unsigned applications. Lots of apps, games, emulators have come out since. So, how many people are taking advantage and how many are still too scared to give it a go?

This should give us some idea.

Think 10,000 people have read "Global Announcement: Guide to unlocking your phone for Application Development" I imagine at least half have done the dirty deed!

Nope, that's the number of views, so includes a count for each time people have viewed it. Test it - Try looking at an old post and then watch the view count climb by one (may have to refresh the page for this), even if you've viewed it already. Presumably some people have viewed this post several times...

It does say 645 registered viewers have looked at it.

Decertified indeed, although I'm waiting on this flippin' UK update before I start using uncertified apps again (I've got the bootloader etc backed to SD card)...

You missed my point. That's views, not unique views. Given that there are 19 pages on that topic, most regulars will have viewed that page themselves several times, each time counting as a "view". Real regulars will probably have viewed it at least every few posts, so that could be as many as 40 times, meaning less than 1000 actual unique views. It says only 661 unique registered viewers have looked at the post.

Don't mind if I do ;-)

It's been around various news places, search this forum.

There were a total of 200,000 SPVs ordered by Orange from HTC, and of these, between 40,000 and 50,000 have been purchased by customers.

Yes - although it hard reset itself. So i'm locked again

Quick question - after decert can you restore IPSM data and still have phone unlocked?

Guest Gorskar

I assume so - providing you made the IPSM backup at a time when the phone was uncertified.

Dumb ass hello im blonde question (no offence to blondes)

Does this invalidate your warranty/insurance?

Can you set it back to a locked phone?

--BUMP--

Thanks to the orange OTA decert method many newbie/non tech SPV users are taking advantage of uncert apps etc. SO how has it effected the stats?? Vote on ppl.

Got it sorted in Feb, I found it a challange to get the editied files in on time, but the satisfaction was worth it when looking to see the browser favorite had changed to 'New Orange'. Did my brothers phone as well to see if I could do it again. Thanks Modaco.
