ok guys i have 5 htc devices 1 nexus one all rooted and happy

1 legend ..... it's the wifes i'm not touching it till she sleeps with both eyes shut

1 wildfire ... the daughters again not worth the loss of life or limb

and 2 desires

one of the desires is away on loan to a friend (i know but i do owe him)

the second is my sons and he wants to root it

bearing in mind that i had a nightmare with the nexus because it has the newer slcd screen i eventually managed it but for a week i had what i thought was a very bricked phone

so i figured that the best thing to do is talk to the experts and give you guys the info before i brick another phone

in the backup screen i have

bravo pvt1 ship s-on

hboot-0.93.0001

microp-031d

touch panel-synt0101

radio-5.09.05.30_2

Download unrevoked, install the drivers (you'll find the info under faq on unrevoked page), run unrevoked.

It's that easy.

When I ran unrevoked on my girls' desire, I got to weird point midway.

I had the correct drivers installed, but it wouldn't get passed a certain point in the process, took a while to spot but it seemed I had to install the drivers as part of the rooting process - no idea why but it's happened with Desire's I've rooted since, so if you get stuck and nothing seems to be happening, check your device manager.

I had all kinds of problems rooting my phone. The method that worked for me was rooting on linux. I have used my PC with Win7x64 and Laptop with Win7x32. Thankfully I have a dual boot laptop with linux so I was able to root it.

right so i managed to get a custom rom on it after doing the back ups and every thing

but when its running any custom rom it cant read the sd card when it's on stock then no problems

it's an 8gb card and i copied everything over to my laptop then formatted it before doing the rooting

any ideas guys ??

I had a similar problem with my card. Make sure that you have no unformatted space on the card. Because my phone didn't even mount the card that had some unformatted space on it. And make sure that you have a FAT32 partition first and ext3 second (ext is for a2sd and a2sd+ if you have them).
