I want to be able to use my new Samsung Galaxy S GT-i9000, to access the internet when away from my wireless network. What do I need to do to set it up, so for example if i'm out in the car and need to check something on ebay what do I need to do. Help please, I have not got a clue. Regards Grayo20

You have to make sure that unde Settings->Wireless and network->Mobile networks you set the the Network Mode to "GSM/WCDMA (auto mode)" and have your operator's GPRS/3G settings selected in Access Point Names (e.g.: "Orange Internet"). You can add a new APN using the option menu (left button) with the settings from you operator if they aren't added automatically.
