Guest rwalton159 Posted October 31, 2010 Report Posted October 31, 2010 I have some questions on the SF and would appreciate some feedback on a few things please. I tried the encoder software mentioned in another thread but it hammers the cpu on my pc. Looked around and cant seem to find an alternative to it though. What do members use please? What video formats can the phone play? I suppose this is linked with the previous question but can it play mp4 - any others please? I have removed the Orange apps from my phone and the memory is around 235mb free with most apps closed. I've a 4gig sd card in the phone but am I right in thinking the phone only uses the internal memory when processing. Thanks Richard
Guest magicpork Posted October 31, 2010 Report Posted October 31, 2010 (edited) rendering/encoding software in general are hugely dependent on the cpu...so no surprise really if it hammers your pc......my i5 750+ ati 4890 can barely encode full HD video at 5-6 frames per second...and that's all four cores running at 100%... i once threw in a flashy background animation from adobe after effect...and guess what..it took a shocking one hour for a 3 min clip... I use adobe media encoder cs4, h264 codec. talking about SF..i find if has no problems playing all videoes I encoded for my ipod touch 3gs before.. they're in h264 @ 640*360 with 1000kps video and 128kps audio..the container is mp4.. an 8 min clip is about 70M.. I may try to encode some 800*480 clips to test out..but i'm guessing they will be fine on SF.. Edited October 31, 2010 by magicpork

Guest xeyaztian Posted October 31, 2010 Report Posted October 31, 2010 Thanks for replying and help :) And yep it just uses the internal memory to run apps.
