Another keyboard - The HTC keyboard

this is the htc keyboard and works perfectly on dell streak.

I have been using ultrakeyboard till now. Looks like there is a competitor now

I got it working , dont know how it worked for me

However this was what i did

In settings turned off all thirdparty keyboards ( i have ultrakeyboard , vilingo and penreader. Turning off thing was accidental)

Then installed the 2 files in the attachement after transferring them to my sd card

restarted my phone .

In settings checked the htc keyboard.

And finally opened a note app , press and hold on the area to type and enabled htc keyboard.

yep um using froyo version too and FC when it opens.

I am using the high resolution froyo version and works well for me

i installed it and restarted my streak before using it

ROM - steve v 1.1.1

i installed both.

i unzipped the files, copied to sd card and installed them using ES file explorer

the hires froyo jonasl HTC _IME keyboard is working well for me too.

there are some people reporting workarounds for the fc's such as removing or unchecking other third party keyboards first.

I didn't and I have swype and smart keyboard installed already.

I am still getting force closes... Are you sure the one you have is the one that's available on that thread? It looks like he's been updating it a lot lately, maybe one of the recent updates killed Streak support?

This keyboard not working for me, keeps force closing. Then again Better keyboard & Ultra keyborad won't work either, yet the stock k/b and the split k/b do !

I have lcd density at 160 (otherwise Aldiko book reader screen goes bananas)

finally manage to make it work.

i uninstalled the HTC keyboard, set the lcd density to 200, reboot and then reinstalled the htc keyboard again.. i dont even need to restart my phone after the installation..

then i set back the lcd to 140, the keyboard FC again..

the lowest LCD density to allow the usage of the keyboard is 170.

170 lcd density worked just fine! Having things slightly larger takes some getting used to but having gestures to go forward and delete last word is a godsend.

my pleasure T_r_i_s .. it's nothing really, I also just try and error.. :huh:

it's disappointing though the DellStage UI only works with LCD Density 160.. i by far feel the HTC keyboard is the best for Streak (besides Dell eclair's keyboard of course!), and the new UI is also a bit special compare to other android's interface..

I can't have both, so I wonder which one should I sacrifice! :rolleyes:
