sim card problem cm6?

Hello!

Just got my unlock code for my pulse £12 bargain!

Anyway! I took my T-Mobile card out and put in my giffgaff one, but, it doesn't ask for unlock code? Just says there is no sim? :)

I'm using CM6 0.2!

If I install official 2.1 update, then unlock my phone and restore my cm6 backup, will it effect unlock?
