Hi San Francisco users,

I bought a SF for £99 + £10. But I just don't get it what am I paying those 10 pounds for?

Is this is the price for SIM card it self?

Because when I call 453 to check my balance it says it's only 1p.

I know I did not use it, it was 1p from the first time I inserted the sim card.

Will I get that £10 eventually?

Regards

There should be 10 pounds top on the SIM. Make sure you have activated it. Phone up Orange if you still haven't got the credit in 24 hours.

Credit takes around a week to get applied to your account.

It took a number of calls to finally get it applied to my IMC

I did activate that plastic (credit card like) top up card with my phone number by calling 450 couple of days after buying the phone.

It's probably a month passed already.

Still the same 1p.

Mine was applied immediately. The guy did it there and then in the Orange shop. Good chap; we were talking about how I'm gonna unlock and debrand it asap lol.

To the OP, you need to call em up and complain mate. 1 month is far too long.

I activated my SIM after one month using this link yesterday. https://www.ishop.orange.co.uk/ishop/ishop_activation.jsp

I got mine, activated it. No credit.

Spoke to the lady on the phone, she said it'd be there within 24 hours. An hour later, got a text to say it'd be applied within 5 days.

Five days later, nothing.

Called again, promised by midnight that night. Even got a text to confirm.

Midnight and the day after, nothing.

I'd also phoned twice other times, asked to speak to a manager and they hung up.

Got so sick of it that I've given up and used MCOL to claim my money back from Orange. Yes it's only £10 but I'm quite infuriated with the hours I've had to waste on it. They refuse to listen to me or let me speak to a manager, so this will get their attention!!

It took me over a month, and several phone calls before I got my £10 credit!!

You just have to keep chasing them!

I keep on getting the

"SORRY, We're having some technical problems processing your activation." error.

Does anyone else have a luck with this activation?

Yes, I kept getting that. When I phoned, they said that the sim card was not registered to me??? Even though it was a brand new sim card!!

No idea what they did, but I eventually got my credit after about a month of chasing!!

Ordered online and upon arrival called customer service and they said it will be applied within 24hrs, but within a couple of hours got confirmation txt of credit ..... and credit on sim too

I ordered the phone on Friday and I haven't had my sim get topped-up either. Admittedly not quite a month but still. The one did say that I wouldn't need a new a sim as I'm already a PAYG customer and my current sim would do fine.

This is one of 'Oranges' latest scams... they make you buy 'credit' but don't give you the credit you've bought until a few weeks after you get the phone.

When I got mine I rang up Orange to activate the SIM card but the 'customer services Technician' told me not to bother - he tells me to just keep on using your old SIM save yourself the trouble, throw that new sim card away.

I wonder whats happened to my credit - so i ring back up and am told the credit will only be put on the new sim card!

Called a Liar when I say I was informed to throw that sim card away and that I will never see any credit...

so anyway im on giff gaff now - its bliss.

Hm ok. If you buy the phone in-store then they activate the SIM and add the credit to the number. It can take 24-48 hours for this credit to appear though. If you buy the phone from Orange.co.uk or telesales then you have to activate the SIM online and the top-up is applied up to one week from this point. However a message to Orangehelpers on Twitter can often speed this up.

And it's not a scam. All mobile providers do the same with pre-paid phones bought online or by telephone. If you want to use the credit quickly then buy the phone in store. If you will just chuck the card away and unlock the phone then buy online or telephone.

In store they add it immediately (appears immediately). They even give a receipt for the topup itself. It's as if it was a normal topup at your local topup outlet.

Yeah mine was added immediately in store also, although I forgot to register the sim and used up the credit with what seemed like a couple of 1 minute phone calls, and probably 3 text messages... Guess their advertisement of 100m free internet, 300 free texts etc required registering the sim card?

Either way Orange is crap, and as soon as a near fully working 2.2 rom comes out I'd swap back in my o2 or Three sim anyway.

Sorted out everything with couple (5 probably) of tweets @orangehelpers.

Everyone having problems with that £10 top up should do the same and issues will be solved.

Cheers.
