Can anyone recommend a good mobile data switch/widget that doesn't break the APN settings? I have one on my HTC but I need one for my wife's Orange San Francisco. Thanks in advance.

I use APNDROID, I combine it with timeriffic to set time periods I know I wont need data ie over night, can be contolled through the app or it has its own widget bundled

+1 for APN droid. Can also be used with tasker.

Otherwise, the best overall data control tool for me is JuiceDefender - it will toggle data on and off through the day, it can also be configured to change its behaviour when the screen is on, it's plugged in, or battery levels get low.
