well a couple of weeks ago successfully rooted and loaded the Modaco rom and all been working fine one vodafone with the exception of MMS. have tried everything but to no avail. if i put in the orange sim it works fine and will send them.

I have cleared the apn's using apn backup and restore and then loaded the settings on the vodafone site.

internet, and texting work fine, just when i send or receive mms says service not available or cannot download now try again later

Hi all,

We have discovered that some customers who have purchased the HTC Desire SIM-free or from a third-party retailer, may find that the default settings for Vodafone PostPay are incorrect.

This can lead to various problems with connectivity, including the inability to access Vodafone Live! and Mobile TV, and the inability to send MMS Messages.

Below are instructions on how to manually edit your settings so that these issues will be resolved.

Go to Settings > Wireless and Networks

Click on the Mobile networks drop-down menu.

Click on the Access Point Names drop-down menu.

You'll see two APN's if you have an unbranded Desire - and only one APN if you have an official Vodafone Desire.

First, select the Vodafone MMS APN, press the Menu key, and choose "Delete APN". We don't need it, and the phone never uses it anyway.

Next select the Vodafone Post-pay ISP APN, and edit all of the settings so that they read as follows:

Name: Vodafone UK

APN: wap.vodafone.co.uk

Proxy: <not set>

Port: <not set>

Username: wap

Password: wap

Server: <not set>

MMSC: http://mms.vodafone.co.uk/servlets/mms

MMS Proxy: 212.183.137.12

MMS Port: 8799

MMS Protocol: WAP 2.0

MCC: 234

MNC: 15

Authentication type: <not set>

APN Type: *

Press Menu > Save

All MMS and Internet functionality should now be working properly
