Guest Miss Mango Posted November 2, 2010 Report Posted November 2, 2010 Hi all! :( Got my San Fran a few days agoo. It's my first touchscreen and first android phone, feels like my old Samsung D900 is like a dinosaur! Aaaanyway, like all of you modaco guys I want to de-orangify n' stuff. I've had a look round and heard a bit about rooting and what not, which admittedly kind of confuses me. So I was wondering is this like the right order to do stuff: . Unlock . Then "root" . "Flash" or something *shrugs shoulders* :) . Add/remove a ROM Is that right? I apologise for my total newbness! Oh yes and what would I do should I "brick" the phone or something in the middle of all the de-orange-ification that requires for an refund? Thanks to one and all that can offer any assistance :)
Guest DaveyP Posted November 2, 2010 Report Posted November 2, 2010 Hi Miss Mango Unlock Root Clockwork De Orange Change rom if you can't resist the geek in you. what would I do should I "brick" The methods of doing things have very good instructions... and you would have to try very very hard to brick it.
Guest quails Posted November 2, 2010 Report Posted November 2, 2010 (edited) Hi Miss Mango Unlock Root Clockwork De Orange Change rom if you can't resist the geek in you. The methods of doing things have very good instructions... and you would have to try very very hard to brick it. Just installing Clockwork recovery and uploading a 2.1 Modaco ROM will de-orange nicely, try that, then see if you need to root it. Make sure ROM has Fancy Widget in it. I only had android 3 days before doing this, fairly foolproof so don't over worry about brick for this. Edited November 2, 2010 by quails
Guest Miss Mango Posted November 2, 2010 Report Posted November 2, 2010 Ah yay some replies. Is changing ROMs like changing the theme, menu layout ect? Seems like unlock is the first thing to do! Ebay time :)
Guest Miss Mango Posted November 2, 2010 Report Posted November 2, 2010 Ah yes and will this Modaco ROM remove the Who Wants to be Millionaire thing? I accidently bought the full version....-.-.....so might as well keep it!
Guest booster22 Posted November 2, 2010 Report Posted November 2, 2010 If you want to stay away from the flashing and roms etc. Go here http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blad...-san-francisco/ Its a lot simpiler, to get rid of the orange apps that way, then just get a different launcher from the market
