Guest Lew247 Posted November 3, 2010 Report Posted November 3, 2010 (edited) I followed the instructions for the Desire here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=795132 to change the splash image it goes fine till I try and flash it to the phone (well it seems to anyway) it fails saying remote: unknown partition name I'm guessing the steps shown should work fine, I just need to tell it where to go? to save people looking here is what it says to do once you have converted the image you want to use in command prompt type fastboot flash splash1 splash1.img Thats where it fails Help? Please :) I followed the instructions for that phone because it has the same screen resolution and only being a noob with 8 days Android experience I'm a bit stuck now edit just tried changing the file name to splash.rgb565 and flashing that over but it still dont work SUCCESS I finally tried (experimenting) to flash it to splash instead of splash1 and it worked the only probem is the image is upside down (easily fixed) but is a bit wierd, its not centered properly anyone able to help? I'll upload a pic of the phone with it on in a moment Edited November 3, 2010 by Lew247
Guest Lew247 Posted November 3, 2010 Report Posted November 3, 2010 (edited) Photo taken on the splash image (clickable) you can see how the picture is shifted to one side. (its crystal clear on the phone,) I used a nokia to take the pciture so its a bit blurred, hard to hold 2 phones still at the same time Edited November 3, 2010 by Lew247

I'll upload a pic of the phone with it on in a moment Don't know about it being shifted but it's upside down because the screen in the SF is actually upside down, most of the time the libs deal with this and put things the "right" way round but the splash is obviously not one of those times.
Guest Lew247 Posted November 3, 2010 Report Posted November 3, 2010 (edited) any ideas about the picture being shiften to one side and then being wrapped? ie the right hand side of the phone screen is actually the start of the picture EDIT: I finaslly managed to get the picture centred I use paint and drew a lightly coloured background 480X800 I made the image I wanted narrower than 480 I pasted the image into the coloured background left justified (ie a larger space to the right of the picture) Converted and flashed it and its now perfectly centred No idea why it wont centre pictures properly, maybe someone else know I've only had an Android phone for 8 days, before this I Was all Nokia, so its a learning process for me by trial and error Hopefully someone knows the proper way to do it and get it right Edited November 3, 2010 by Lew247
