Guest cyberiaa Posted November 3, 2010 Report Posted November 3, 2010 (edited) Hi all, Let's start from first: I bought a t-mobile desire from someone. when I got it, it was rooted and an official htc middle east rom flashed on it (...and unrooted) Both seller and me have a local sim card (Not t-mobile) but it worked for him and not for me :) It displays a "Limited Service", "Emergency Calls Only" message. when I search for operators it list my operator but when I choose it android can't register on it. PS: 1. I rooted it again and flashed LeeDroid rom on it but no success 2. There is no request to enter unlock code 3. Sim card is correct 4. Seller is not scam! Help me solve this puzzle , ...you are my last chance! Updated: It works in another city of country but not here :) Edited November 19, 2010 by cyberiaa
Guest ascot17 Posted November 3, 2010 Report Posted November 3, 2010 Try the following: Menu>Settings>Wireless & Networks>Mobile Networks>Access Point Names Do you see your network operator displayed here? Is the correct network checked?

Is the correct network checked? Thanks for reply. It list my operator but when I choose that Android can't register on it. Yes, it's correct!
Guest ascot17 Posted November 4, 2010 Report Posted November 4, 2010 Thanks for reply. It list my operator but when I choose that Android can't register on it. Yes, it's correct! Is a different operator also listed? Are you able to register with a different operator and then return to the correct one?
Guest volatile_ink Posted November 5, 2010 Report Posted November 5, 2010 Maybe he's blocked the IMEI. Could also be that the SIM card's not registered. Had a new SIM from OrangeUK the other day and got the same issue. Call your provider and ask to activate the SIM.
Guest cyberiaa Posted November 5, 2010 Report Posted November 5, 2010 (edited) @volatile_ink I think you are correct! but how can I check IMEI? I contacted with t-mobile and they said "we have not such database to check out stolen/lost imei" Seller accept my refund request so I think he's honest also IMEI in phone and box are equal so I don't think it's really a stolen device. IMEI s/n and other details was released in seller page. Is it possible for someone to use that info and report it? Edited November 5, 2010 by cyberiaa
Guest volatile_ink Posted November 5, 2010 Report Posted November 5, 2010 @cyberiaa: Your welcome. Even if the IMEI matches the one on the box, the number could still be blacklisted. Perhaps the seller bought the phone off someone else and they blocked it? If it was shown on the listing it would be very easy to register a PAYG sim with the IMEI and then register it stolen. Caller would just say "I'm calling from another phone and want to register....". I don't know the procedures for checking an IMEI, try a sim from another carrier, if it works in another phone and not yours (and as long as your phone is unlocked) then that probably means the phone is blacklisted. Congrats on getting the refund, eBay can be a minefield at times.
Guest cyberiaa Posted November 19, 2010 Report Posted November 19, 2010 It make more fun now: It works in another city of country!! (~1000 KM distance)
