Guest Captain Zlog Posted November 20, 2010 Report Posted November 20, 2010 Hi , I updated the my friends Desire to Froyo 2.2.But when i run the device with sim card , is going to reboot again and again .Without sim card, system is running normally. What is the problem ? Is this the hardware problem ? Yes, I had a similar problem recently, since Froyo. There's a known overheating issue that causes random but constant reboots. Check for warmth just below the battery area. If you leave it to cool down, you can usually get it to start OK eventually, but when you begin to do something useful (especially Google Maps) it'll crash and reboot constantly. Your's might be overheating when it's trying to find a cell site it can use with that SIM. My desire is at HTC getting a new main board fitted. They know all about the issue.
Guest Gorskar Posted November 21, 2010 Report Posted November 21, 2010 Was it originally a network branded phone, unbranded, and you then updated it to an unbranded 2.2 ROM (without using the goldcard)? If so you may need to re-apply the update, but make sure you use the goldcard when doing so. I've not had this problem myself (not bothered to change from the Vodaphone 2.2 version, as its pretty much identical to the stock version) but from what I've picked up on the forums that might be a possible cause / solution
Guest sgtb Posted November 26, 2010 Report Posted November 26, 2010 Sorry but only cure is to return to HTC for a new mobo. See here, it is a BIG problem with Desire. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=676402
Guest BaronO Posted November 28, 2010 Report Posted November 28, 2010 I had this problem with an unbranded Orange phone when going to 2.2. I had to reapply a stock ROM to get it back working and then do the update with a goldcard in place. But I've also had a similar problem with what seems to be a faulty SD card. Remove the SD card and see if it works, if it does format the SD card on your PC and put it back in that's easier and might clear it.
