You're not the only one :/ I feel 2.2 is slower, outside of benchmarks and games.

from what i've read its 500% faster , yes 500% , i'm running r4 2.1 , i'm happy with that , but will be hoping along to 2.2 once its out of alpha , i'd be happy with a 95% beta version , fingers crossed it will happen soon , as the phone is already great.

Let us know what you think , if you do update.

Strange, I think opposite to both of you, the system menu's and in particular Launcher Pro seems to be a lot smoother/quicker to me than in 2.1 and loading of certain things (applications list) seem to be quicker.

I recently tried 2.1 again with the overclock kernel (last night infact), and found it to be slower most of the time than 2.2, but still better than a stock 2.1 rom.

At the end of the day everyone will experience these versions differently, but I'm having a different experience with 2.2 than both of you it seems! :)

Just run a live wallpaper on both. :)

I can notice the speedier menu's and slightly faster internet loading times with Gforums 2.2 Alpha over Sebastians r5 2.1.

For me froyo is much faster in the menus, live wallpapers and .. well, I don't really use any stuff that puts a lot of stress on the system, but it feels snappier. The only weird thing is that angry birds is much slower.

I also felt that 2.2 Alpha was very much slower than the 2.1 r3 MoDaCo rom...

Just my own 2 pence, but with the default 160 size icons of Stephen Hyde's ROM the home screen felt very fast. When swiping to the next screen it looked really smooth.

However, after editing the "build.prop" file to make the icons back to 240 then I must say the home screen felt the same as the Orange stock ROM. The movement from screen to screen seemed to judder just a tiny bit.

So, I guess the extra pixels of the default icons was making extra work for the phone to do and so the ROM may not be that fast after all.

My 2.2 feels slow aswell, esp. when swipeing between homescreen - laggy :) Same with 2.1 stock tho, maybe it cant get better ? But im sure a saw a vid some week ago with someone that had a really fast rom - desperate to know what is was! :)

2.2 is faster than r4 MCR definitely in usage.

I am using gforums 2.2 for daily usage. It is very stable except a few quirks (coarse location & FM Radio)

If you're phone is rooted, get the app 'adFree' from the market
