Won't work at all - that is tied into specific Nokia hardware, and is only going to work on Nokia phones.

On the bright side, devices such as that at least allow you to make voice calls, unlike the mildly irritating iPhone headsets that have the connectors swapped around.

I've tried the NOKIA HS-45 headset and while you can use it to talk, you cant control the answer/end call from it

I am looking for a set of headphones that will also allow me to control the music ie. pause, skip tracks etc. Having hand free would also be nice but not essential, does anyone know of a compatable set?

Thanks

Is that down to how its programmed or the wiring/plug, what I'm wondering is if it would be close to impossible to mod it into working?

Also looking for other recommendations of handsfree's. Please correct me if I'm wrong but I'm assuming bluetooth would be quite the battery hog? So 3.5mm might be preferable for that reason, but also guess sounds quality would be superior compared to bluetooth. What about some 3.5mm adapter with control buttons and mic that would allow you to use your own pair of headphones, any good such ones?

What are you all using?

Thanks

You'll only be able to do that via an A2DP headset.

Just to be an awkward so and so, I'm now using a Nokia N8, and the SanFran has been relegated to a kids toy - my son loves playing angry birds (2 years old, he just bangs the birds into random things and says "crash") and the Cars Jigsaw.

I've used a few different A2DP headsets over the years, and apart from a few issues (with the headsets, not the phones) they've been fine - rarely that much of an overhead on battery life.

There are no real standards for wired controls, the actual signals used, I'd reckon the best you're likely to get is something like these Nokia sets (or an A2DP set) and make do with either reduced battery life or no use of the controls.

My main irritation with the San Francisco is that whilst it would work perfectly with a pair of regular 3.5mm headphones, it wouldn't allow use of the internal microphone. So down the gym on the treadmill, get a call - went to answer, they couldn't hear me, disconnect the headphones, make the phone call (while running, not advised!), then reconnect the 'phones as quick as possible so that the rest of the gym didn't get assaulted by my choice of music (invariably some form of rock/metal).

Erm, there does appear to be a standard for Android phones.

...

Ummm. Is it a standard for Android?

The thing picked up by Hackaday was specifically to replicate a Nexus One's headset. (TRRS link on the hackaday page)

And that original had an odd comment about different resistance values maybe being required...

Your ranges and numbers may vary, depending on a few factors, so be prepared to experiment with different resistors.

Does the N1's headset (and control buttons) work on the SF (or ALL Android phones, as Hackaday seem to assume)?

It seems to me that the choice is

Nokia WH-701 Stereo Headset - corded so no need for charging, with mic but unable to answer/end calls or control music

Sony-Ericsson-MW-600-Bluetooth-Headphones - bluetooth (so needs to keep them charged and would drain the phones battery), built in radio so saving a bit of phone battery life, can answer calls, can control MP3 player

I'm not that bothered by being able to control the mp3s but definitely want to be able to talk hands free and ideally be able to answer/end calls. Can't quite decide between not having to charge up headphones but having to get phone out to answer calls, or having to charge up headphones and turn my bluetooth on every time I want to listen to music (but being able to answer calls without getting my phone out). Hmmmmm

Surely there must be a simple corded solution out there? something that can answer/end calls and has a mic? I see some people might be making their own cable but its not something I want to do.

THERE IS .... !

Less than 3 hours before you posted this I created a thread SPECIFICALLY to announce that there was such a thing. So it shouldn't have been very far down Page 1 ...

There seems to be; http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blad...-headset-found/

I'll probably give those a try and plug in a good pair of headphones at some point when I can be bothered.
