Does Google Sync work properly on this phone?

I am trying to sync my contact data, with my pc and my phone

Running Froyo alpha 1

Looking at the top 3 entries on my pc

Ainy

Alliance

Amanda

for some reason 'Alliance' does not appear on my phone after sync

so I changed the names of the 3 names here to

Ainy2

Alliance2

Amanda2

and sure enough 'Alliance2' is not on the phone, but the other 2 names have been updated

Whats going on here?

Only time I've seen things like that, there were a couple of reasons contacts wouldn't export. First, dodgy characters in an address, ie a tab character (I think) that you couldn't see, but, knocked the fields out. Second was that some contacts had phone numbers in fields that didn't match the fields in the phone, eg home, mobile, business, and were in "other" phone fields. As there was nothing to import, other than a name, nothing came through. I changed the numbers to mobile or home, and they appeared.

May not be the reason, but, worth a look.

Open the dialer app, menu, display options, your google account. Make sure all boxes are ticked then tick the bottom "all other contacts"

Don't ask me how they become an "other" contact or why this option is disabled by default. Just be ready to do this if you ever wipe and flash a custom rom :)
