Guest mephestic Posted November 4, 2010 Report Posted November 4, 2010 Hey folks, Im currently on the R3 Modaco rom made by paul and shortly after going through the scary process of installing it and being thankful it worked...R4 was released. Now i read its having some issues and im wondering whether its worth upgrading to it? Currently the R3 rom seems to work well and the only problem i have noticed is that task manager crashes when you want to view the resources tab at the end. Are there any current issues with R4? or is it just as stable as R3? Is it worth upgrading to it? Also how would I go about doing it? Simply using clockwork recovery and flashing it from the SDcard through that? Your input would be appreciated :) (p.s. hows the work on a Froyo 2.2 release coming along? I cant wait!! fantastic work to everyone, its been really exciting reading the forums since i came here from the hotukdeals link :) )
Guest Freekers Posted November 4, 2010 Report Posted November 4, 2010 Read the changelog r4 * Updated Android Market (2.2 features) * Optional A2SD * Updated Sound Recorder * Updated framework-res and Launcher (remove Orange default wallpaper) * Component updates
Guest goatee Posted November 4, 2010 Report Posted November 4, 2010 To be honest, once you've gone through the process of rooting, and flashing once, doing it again is a doddle. However, if you're not that comfortable doing it, as long as you're happy with the way R3 runs, I wouldn't bother. Also how would I go about doing it? Simply using clockwork recovery and flashing it from the SDcard through that?
Guest monkeyfeatures Posted November 4, 2010 Report Posted November 4, 2010 (edited) Personally I'd recommend trying the r4b Froyo if you're going to flash anything. It's got a few teething problems left but it's pretty stable and for me the ability to install apps to SD, faster 3d performance, better wifi and sync features etc. make it a clear winner. Only if you are brave and can afford to take the risk though :) Edited November 4, 2010 by monkeyfeatures
