Guest libretteer Posted November 4, 2010 Report Posted November 4, 2010 I have a problem that doesn't seem to have cropped up before on the forums - any ideas, please? San Francisco, running prebaked r4 ROM with a2sd 2.7.5.1. 4GB MicroSD card with approx. 800MB ext2 partition. Each time I reset the phone, it takes several attempts to get a2sd running again - "a2sd check" reports that the partition is found, but not mounted. Booting into recovery mode, clear cache partition & Dalvik cache/make sure sdext is mounted/reinstall a2sd eventually gets it working, usually after 3 or 4 attempts. But here's the big problem: once a2sd is working, everything seems fine until the next time I reboot the phone. Then it just sits there with the MoDaCo boot screen up (every few seconds the screen blanks and the boot screen comes back). I have to take the battery out, then do a factory reset to get it working again. Any ideas what the problem is? Presumably some file has become corrupted, but having tried a factory reset, reinstalling ClockworkMod, r4, a2sd I can't think what could still be left behind that hasn't been overwritten. And would installing a kitchen ROM with a2sd built in be any more reliable (either in terms of getting it working in the first place, or avoiding this problem) than my current setup? Thanks for any help
Guest brunocrosier Posted November 14, 2010 Report Posted November 14, 2010 hey mate i'm having pretty much exactly the same problem.. did you manage to sort it out? not fun having a phone on bootloop
Guest flatnote31 Posted November 14, 2010 Report Posted November 14, 2010 might not be the brightest thing to do, but when I had this, nothing seemed to solve it, so I had to wipe/factore data, cache and dalvik cache and then flashed the rom again, or you could restore from CWM if you backed-up at a clean point (i.e. where everything was working fine) it's a last resort, but I didn't have time to investigate and that was the easiest way out.
Guest funkimon Posted November 14, 2010 Report Posted November 14, 2010 Had a very similar problem/ Had to download a rom with a2sd already in it rather than install it afterwards. GL
Guest libretteer Posted November 14, 2010 Report Posted November 14, 2010 I never got to the bottom of what was causing the problem, but it looks as if you and I are not the only ones with this problem - having looked around a bit more (on here and elsewhere) since my original post it looks as if several others have found the same. I found that installing a ROM with a2sd built in solved the problem. Not only can I reboot the phone without it looping now, but a2sd just worked as soon as I installed the ROM without all the messing about I had to do before. To get such a ROM, either get a Modaco premium subscription and "cook" one for yourself, or look in the forums here or on VillainROM where such ROMs have been posted.
Guest Gerson2k Posted November 15, 2010 Report Posted November 15, 2010 Not sure if its relevant, but looking at the OP the only thing thats not been mentioned is which version of MCRi (was) being used - pre-requisite for a2sd to work is Paul's MCRi r3.
Guest leetron1 Posted November 15, 2010 Report Posted November 15, 2010 (edited) You need to format your a2sd partition before flashing new ROM..I use Acronis Disk Director you maybe use GParted..format your ext2/3 partition and ROM flash should work fine>> Edited November 15, 2010 by leetron1

Same ! only worked with A2SD built-in Seems like we're a bunch of noobs and some few techies got it running
Guest goatee Posted November 16, 2010 Report Posted November 16, 2010 I got it running once, but then repartitioned, and it went into the boot loop. Only way I could save it, was to bake my own ROM with A2SD in. Not too fussed, as I had meant to get an Ad-Free account anyway.
