Guest jannism Posted November 4, 2010 Report Posted November 4, 2010 Anyone else here face a complete lottery when it comes to plugging in your Streak? More often than not it takes me several attempts to get the phone to register that it's connected at all (I have now been trying for the past 10/15 minutes without success). It doesn't make any difference whether I use the wall plug or go straight to pc either, so it's either the connector itself, the socket or the software. Plus it seems random as opposed to following any kind of pattern. Anyone else get this? Got any ideas/solutions?
Guest popetodd Posted November 4, 2010 Report Posted November 4, 2010 Not I, but it sounds like your cable and/or connector have issues. If you know someone else with a Streak you can test both possibilities or you can head on over to the place where you bought it and see if they have a cable and Streak to test with. In either case I would think they would be warranty repairs.

Took cable backn into carphone whorehouse who exchanged immediately for a brand new cable. Now works fine...
Guest jannism Posted November 4, 2010 Report Posted November 4, 2010 I was afraid someone would say that. Must admit, this made me laugh: If you know someone else with a Streak... do you? :) I bought it online because I live in the middle of nowhere - last time I tried my nearest O2 shop (30 minutes drive each way during lunchtime) they had barely heard of the Streak, let alone had one in stock. :) same old, same old... Ah well, I'm in London today so I guess I need to leave early and find a shop near ze train station...I'll let you know if that's what it is.
Guest jannism Posted November 5, 2010 Report Posted November 5, 2010 I said I'd let you know so...raced across town yesterday to the O2 store on Oxford Street. Stood around for a good 15 minutes cursing the air that o2 breath until finally, whilst chatting to some guy about the Streak he was returning (persistent reboots), I got the attention of a chap at the desk and asked him to test my phone with a new cable. It worked first time without any of the palava of trying to insert it either, the assistant just shrugged, gave me the cable (he kept the dodgy one) and I was on my way, no ifs and no buts. So twice I have had cause to seek assistance from O2 and twice I have been very pleasantly surprised by the outcome.

O2's issues are not normally down to the guy's in store more the lack of guy's in the store, a 15 minute wait is incredibly short especially in that store.
Guest prawnballs Posted November 5, 2010 Report Posted November 5, 2010 My Streak started being intermittent with its charging. I have a spare cable from an earlier swap with o2 and it made no difference. I then noticed one of the pins in the connector (not the cable) was damaged. I could still charge it, but had to have the cable in at a certain angle. After a couple of days of charging at a crazy angle another of the pins suffered the same fate. I am now unable to charge. Having had a nightmare with o2 regarding a cracked screen the day after purchase I am claiming under my insurance this time. They've accepted the claim just need to send off my phone now. I love the Streak to bits, but I already treat it with extreme care because of the fragility of the screen, now I need to take equally extreme care with the charging port. I've now got to decide whether to keep the Streak once replaced/repaired or sell it on.
