Charging your Streak

Anyone else here face a complete lottery when it comes to plugging in your Streak?

More often than not it takes me several attempts to get the phone to register that it's connected at all (I have now been trying for the past 10/15 minutes without success). It doesn't make any difference whether I use the wall plug or go straight to pc either, so it's either the connector itself, the socket or the software. Plus it seems random as opposed to following any kind of pattern.

Anyone else get this? Got any ideas/solutions?
