Using the default internet browser to click to call

Hello

I am running custom r3 on my sanfran and noticed that a friend with an HTC could select a phone number on a web page with the stock browser and got some options that allowed you to copy text etc. One of the options was to call the number.

Can we do this on 2.1? My friend seems to think he could do it before on his 2.1 distro.

Is this a HTC feature? If so how would I enable it?

His browser says broswer v2.2 and mine say Internet v7.

When I do a long press on web page txt I get no pop up at all....
