Guest Mark D Posted November 4, 2010 Report Posted November 4, 2010 Realplayer is the best I've found.
Guest UncleFista Posted November 4, 2010 Report Posted November 4, 2010 Stock player and a decent encoder hasn't let me down yet :)
Guest goatee Posted November 4, 2010 Report Posted November 4, 2010 Can't you just watch the battery go down if you watch movies on it? I agree they'd look wonderful, but the only place I'd want to do that, is on the train, but doubt the battery would last long enough :).
Guest malooga Posted November 4, 2010 Report Posted November 4, 2010 Everything plays better if you stick froyo on it, apart from that i've found mp4's play the best. I encode em with Super.
Guest malooga Posted November 4, 2010 Report Posted November 4, 2010 Yes another battery or charger would come in handy :)
Guest Mark D Posted November 4, 2010 Report Posted November 4, 2010 I agree they'd look wonderful, but the only place I'd want to do that, is on the train, but doubt the battery would last long enough :). It does. :) (just) myplayer, with realplayer, is your friend......
Guest The Soup Thief Posted November 5, 2010 Report Posted November 5, 2010 I've just installed doubletwist which seems pretty versatile from all I've heard. Nice interface too. Anyone got more experience of it?
Guest Fulch Posted November 5, 2010 Report Posted November 5, 2010 I've just installed doubletwist which seems pretty versatile from all I've heard. Nice interface too. Anyone got more experience of it? I like it as a music player but it only seems to play the standard video codecs that the Android OS supports - whilst this may be fine for some people, I tend to use Rockplayer (the arm6 specific one) and it plays nearly every video I throw at it.
Guest MrNike Posted November 5, 2010 Report Posted November 5, 2010 Is it possible to add codecs to any player ? I want to play XVid files.
Guest flatnote31 Posted November 5, 2010 Report Posted November 5, 2010 My personal experience: I tried many players (default videoz, Double Twist, MixZing, Rockplayer, Mplayer, Realplayer.....etc) Only one that managed to play a 720p mp4 video downloaded from Youtube was ROCK-PLAYER (audio ok but video reallly choppy and out of sync) ...and it only plays it using the SOFTWARE mode, not the Hardware acceleration mode. I tried to avi (xvid) but didn't work first time I tried it (using Videoz, Double Twist and MixZing) Extra bit: Best AUDIO player I found is definitely PowerAmp (but it's not free :) ) followed by Winamp. MixZing was ok and it had equalizer but was a bit sluggish, unlike winamp...
Guest socialworker Posted November 5, 2010 Report Posted November 5, 2010 Hm... I'm quite unimpressed with the video performance of the blade. It seems it isn't even able to playback 480p videos properly. What kind of video is it actually able to play? Codec and container-wise?

What kind of video is it actually able to play? Codec and container-wise? I just encoded a small sample from Monsters Inc, the resolution is 800x432, not exactly 480p due to the aspect ratio of the movie. Here's the sample if you want to try it out, i used the stock player and stock movie player www.rpgmerchants.com/zteblade_monsterinc.mp4
Guest rwalton159 Posted November 5, 2010 Report Posted November 5, 2010 (edited) I use Magic Video Converter - select MP4 and convert ipod H.264 on standard quality I then use Real Player (free app) to play the video :) Edited November 5, 2010 by rwalton159
Guest AndyHibberd Posted November 11, 2010 Report Posted November 11, 2010 It's all about converting to native files for the Blade (MP4). Then just get a player that works ONLY with native support with a decent UI like mvideoplayer (Best I've found so far). The thing I like about this player is the good layout, intuitive UI, and slide your finger for ff/rw. Andy
Guest Posted January 13, 2011 Report Posted January 13, 2011 Hi folks, im just getting around to wachthing some AVI files on this. What is the best free ad-free app for this? If there is one - I can't see it easily anyway! :D
Guest Ciels Posted January 13, 2011 Report Posted January 13, 2011 Well I'm wondering if anyone knows of a way to convert a video with subtitles and play them back decently on the ZTE BLADE. I'll keep an eye on this thread.

Guest insurgente Posted January 13, 2011 Report Posted January 13, 2011 i never really liked Real Player on my PC... is it any better on the Blade?
Guest cenwulf Posted January 13, 2011 Report Posted January 13, 2011 Hi folks, im just getting around to wachthing some AVI files on this. What is the best free ad-free app for this? If there is one - I can't see it easily anyway! :D arcMedia plays AVIs (and asf, mkv, mov, mp4, rmvb, wmv) and is free. I think there are 1 or 2 others that cost, but I haven't tried them. It says it plays subtitles in SRT format, but again, I haven't tried it.
Guest AndyHibberd Posted January 13, 2011 Report Posted January 13, 2011 mvideoplayer is the best player but it only plays native formats (MP4) It has a fantastic UI, great playback features like bookmarks, sorting by watched/unwatched etc, and is FREE! It also supports subtitles.
