Wipe data and use your custom rom. Install a new rom. Brick the phone. Come here for help and fix the phone. Then use the phone. Sorry but you're out of luck.
Guest Lamhir Posted November 4, 2010 Report Posted November 4, 2010 (edited) They can: Pull out the SD card and use the data there. Wipe data and use your custom rom. Also, if he rooted his phone, the "new owner" could also access all files via recovery. He could then simply boot in recovery, do fake flash or whatever else he desires, start Clockwork and then i.e. make a nand backup, delete certain files (i.e. screen lock), then put his SIM Card and access everything on your phone. If you think you just lost it, you could always try to call your mobile carrier support and ask them to enable GPS/3G tracking (i.e. find out the approximate position of the phone by triangulation via cell towers). So if you just lost it, you would know an approximate position where you lost it and if its still there. Then (if it's there) go out there and call yourself from another phone and see if it rings somewhere near that place :). Triangulation should be able to point it down to 50-100 meters. Guest volatile_ink Posted November 4, 2010 Report Posted November 4, 2010 (edited) Call your operator, Get your sim and imei blocked. Will thwart Joe Average and give you some peace of mind. A smart phone that can't phone... useless. Edited November 4, 2010 by volatile_ink
Guest trstn Posted November 5, 2010 Report Posted November 5, 2010 Take it you didn't install Wavesecure from the kitchen?
Guest Paul Posted November 5, 2010 Report Posted November 5, 2010 On the whole, you're fairly safe from 99% of thieves... apart from data on the sdcard. Really, this is a good reason for installing something like Wavesecure, which would have let you track it on a map (if it was on). P

GPS only eats battery if it's actually used, not if it's just on. And if you have apps which use the GPS all the time, even if you don't actively use a specific GPS-required app, than i'd recheck my apps as it's not normal that GPS should be used while you're phone is on sleeping or just on desktop w/o running stuff that really requires GPS
