SMS Problem

I only bought my Optimus a few days ago, and noticed that i can recieve messages, but when i try to send one, it stays pending for a few minutes then i get a notification that it has failed to send

I checked the service centre number and entered the Orange UK number and saved, but everytime i check it, it seems to be blank, somehow it wont save the number, which is why i hink i cant send any sms.

Not sure on what to do next, any help is greatly appreciated.
