Guest tabor56 Posted November 5, 2010 Report Posted November 5, 2010 (edited) Hi just wondering if anyone has attempted to port MIUI over to blade, seems like on other handsets people have made custom versions of it. Edited November 5, 2010 by tabor56

Guest Rem1x Posted November 5, 2010 Report Posted November 5, 2010 I was going to suggest this but thought it would be too much to ask for. But thinking about it. WE NEED THIS.
Guest tabor56 Posted November 5, 2010 Report Posted November 5, 2010 its been ported to g1, moto droid and acer liquid so should be possible.
Guest blauwal26 Posted November 5, 2010 Report Posted November 5, 2010 Isn't one of the reasons we got android that it doesn't look like an iphone?
Guest Rem1x Posted November 5, 2010 Report Posted November 5, 2010 Isn't one of the reasons we got android that it doesn't look like an iphone? Nope. If the G1 has it, it can't be too hard to port! We're much closer to the desire then the G1 is, (kinda).
Guest ddotpatel Posted November 5, 2010 Report Posted November 5, 2010 Isn't one of the reasons we got android that it doesn't look like an iphone? No no, it is because it is not an Iphone, not because it doesn't look like one, take the Galaxy S for instance. However UI speaking, stock Android + Launcher Pro is simplicity to perfection for me. Horses for courses eh.
Guest igor_anta Posted November 6, 2010 Report Posted November 6, 2010 Nope. If the G1 has it, it can't be too hard to port! We're much closer to the desire then the G1 is, (kinda). MIUI is only hdpi for now, the G1 doesn't have it yet and no real progress has been made there either. But this device is hdpi so it should be portable for you, give it a try :)
Guest screwface Posted November 6, 2010 Report Posted November 6, 2010 Why do people keep requesting this. it looks cheap. a knock off iphone is embarrassing.
Guest tabor56 Posted November 6, 2010 Report Posted November 6, 2010 it has some real good ui features that really should be implemented into stock android
Guest Azurren Posted November 6, 2010 Report Posted November 6, 2010 It's the best of all 4 Touchwiz iOS WebOS And on the best mobile OS available! Android! Alot of us don't hate the look of the iPhone.. We didn't buy our android devices because they weren't iPhones, we bought them because they weren't rip-offs and could do a lot more! Making it look nicer and adding more features is just WIN! And besides.. If it was just an iPhone replacement for android I would hate it (No widgets, simple, ugly). It isn't, it just has some of the features of the iPhone
Guest tabor56 Posted November 6, 2010 Report Posted November 6, 2010 Does anyone in the know actually know if it is feasible? I think it requires Android 2.2 but since we kinda have it sorted now is it just a case of porting the rom?

All we really need is a Dev committed to bringing MIUI to the blade and the 2.2 kernel source (Which should be released when the 2.2 Blade ships in china) Currently we have neither :)
Guest AndyHibberd Posted November 7, 2010 Report Posted November 7, 2010 Sidenote - MIUI Browser is available on the market. http://www.androidpolice.com/2010/11/05/mi...he-party-going/ A guy from XDA translated the Chinese version. It is VERY well made and you can see the potential of good software producers on Android for the future.
Guest weba Posted November 7, 2010 Report Posted November 7, 2010 This browser is awesome! My new default.
Guest bagge Posted November 7, 2010 Report Posted November 7, 2010 That rom looked insanely fast and smooth on the youtube preview I watched few days ago, would be awesome to have it ported.
Guest goods Posted November 7, 2010 Report Posted November 7, 2010 This browser is awesome! My new default. There will be an official English version soon.

But this device is hdpi so it should be portable for you, give it a try  Yes this is true, but a some people start to adapt all the HDPI theme to MDPI. Maybe the currently users of mdpi devices can have too MIUI! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=794871
Guest majnu Posted December 29, 2010 Report Posted December 29, 2010 (edited) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread...027&page=27 the guy in the last post says get it from:- www.miren.cn as it is a full working version in English. Do I get that one or the one in the first post. Also what do I do with the .apk file. Sorry if it is a dumb question, I'm new to Android. My last phone was a 7 year old Nokia :( Edited December 29, 2010 by majnu
Guest cobhc Posted December 29, 2010 Report Posted December 29, 2010 We should be able to get both this and CyanogenMod fairly easily once we have the kernel source, but as mentioned in another thread, that source probably won't be perfect and will need work anyway.

Guest AndyHibberd Posted December 29, 2010 Report Posted December 29, 2010 fantastic browser my new default Used to be mine but now Dolphin Mini seriously takes the crown.
Guest cartierv Posted December 29, 2010 Report Posted December 29, 2010 (edited) Sorry mad post edited on my part. I'm sorry I've lost my marbles a bit lately. Just ignore. It's nice to have a choice of browsers. Dolphin and Miren weren't for me but I'm sure I'll look again at them, and that there will be lots of other choices too in the future. I have Opera as my second browser, but I'm not crazy about it to be honest. What I would be very interested in is when there is an Android version of Bolt which I have read is happening, as they got the performance of that really not bad at all on some really low end java phones.
