Dell Streak won't detect USB host

Hey all,

As you know, on being plugged into a USB port the Streak either identifies it's charging if it's a power source, or says a USB connection has been created if it's a PC, at which point you can choose to mount the SD card on the PC.

That's all good, but I don't understand why the same can't happen on my car's head unit. It's an Alpine IDA-X100, which is all too happy to read from any USB memory stick, but not the Streak.

When I plug the Streak in, it simply says its charging, but doesn't offer to mount the SD card or anything. The X100 blithely says there's no USB device connected.

I'm guessing this is because the Streak identifies itself as something other than a USB storage device, so I was wondering if there was any app/hack out there that can force it to present itself solely as some kind of memory stick if a USB host is connected.

I haven't found anything yet though. Any ideas? :)
