my phone keeps randomly re-starting every hour or so. i was just wondering whether it was an unique fault to my phone or whether other people are having the same issue.

Any ideas?

I wonder if you might be trapping the power button somehow with the way you have put the back on?

Mine does this too and if I have not checked it for a while, the battery can become very drained.

I've had similar unexplained reboots but these only occur maybe once a week or so? I'm putting it down to the rather unrefined state of current ROMs as they don't appear to occur with any particular movement of the phone. Also, I didn't clear caches when installing this ROM which I understand is recommended.

With the kernel released, I have every confidence that the clever folks around here will produce optimised and improved ROMs which don't suffer from this problem!

This used to happen everyday on 2.1.

However after installing 2.2 last week it has never happened.

I've also been having this problem, and it was getting more frequent this last week.

I've checked the battery and socket/contacts over, and that fit all looks pretty snug/solid ok, then I noticed the SIM was pretty loose under its clip!

I am trying a single piece of paper - between the SIM back and the metal retaining clip - to see if I can ensure the SIM is pushed up against the contacts. The last two days I have been trying this out, and not yet (!) had a random restart. Only something to look at, for you, perhaps.

Note: I initially cut a piece of paper exactly in the shape of the SIM, but that was a bit too difficult to squeeze in under the metal clip - but I then cut the middle of this into a thinner strip, and the paper slid in much better and made everything much tighter

I've also noticed that if I take the battery completely out, and then replace it, it is best to wait about 30 seconds before hitting the power button, otherwise the SF likes to reboot several times in a row... which is odd, too!

Over a week now since I slid that piece of paper between the back of SIM card and its retaining clip, no more random reboots for me since. The SF is going fine, now my main phone. Still on 2.1 stock ROM.
