Flashed to CPW 2.1 rom and I get blank screen whilst booting.

Hi,

As per the title I have used KDZ to flash from stock CPW 1.6 rom to CPW 2.1 rom and all went smoothly. Despite this when the phone is booted I no longer get ANDROID showing on the black boot screen. After around 20-30 secs I can hear the (normal) boot sound and when I press the power on / off button it goes to the Home page - all then works ok.

Is the above normal ? I find it strange the start up logo advertising has been removed and it doesnt automatically show the home page when it has finished booting. I have tried a hard factory re-set and that didnt make any difference.

No I haven't tried any fastboot rom.

Re the 1st comment from ilovelg: - as the phone now doesnt doesnt boot straight into a useable screen (unlike any other phone I have had), how am I supposed to know if it was a completely successful flash or if this is just a standard part of the CPW 2.1 rom ??

Is the CPW rom missing a boot animation file and if so can i be added ??

I have the same here Updated mine yesterday using the LG official updater to 2.1, no LG or Android logo at bootup goes stright to blank screen, so is hard to tell if phone is on unless i press the home button

Contacted LG and said it sounds like a bad flash, they also said do a factory reset and update again,this did not work LGupdater"you have the laster version no need to update"

So still black screen :rolleyes:

Re name the file to bootanimation.zip

no need root.

put bootanimation.zip in the adb folder.

open dos prompt and type this.

ADB Push bootanimation /data/local

and reboot your phone.

gt540 screen is vga 320 x 480 pixel.

ADB push carried out to transfer a boot animation zip as suggested above. Data shows as transferred in cmd prompt - but this doesnt make any difference. It is still blank - no boot animation shows.

Any further ideas or is it a crippled CPW rom?

Just flashed Europe open to a CPW GT540 - boot sequence looks fine - LG static logo then LG animation back to LG static logo then Android animation with sound, finally normal locked screen displayed.

I've lost boot logo animation 1st time I used KDZ updater to flash my GT540 from France Orange 1.6 FW to France Bouygues 2.1. Since I flashed every available 2.1 FW out there to try and restore my boot anim, to no avail. I'm now running 2.1 Europe (fine), still without any boot logo / animation, booting in the dark. Tried to upload bootanimation.zip to the phone, several versions, and it didn't help either...

I'm running Baltic 2.1 and boot logo was ok so far, however today I tried flashing the Open European ROM.

The flash failed (one of many in my struggle to re-flash my Optimus) and the phone works fine after I replaced the battery.

However boot logo/animation is gone now - I can only hear the booting sound.

I finally managed to reflash it and it still boots without a logo.

Hope there's a fix.

I don't know if it's relevant, but this particular time that my flash attempt failed with a general error prompt, I also noticed another error in the log.

I think I have the log saved on my office computer, and I'll post it tomorrow.

Perhaps that would give us a lead what went wrong this time and hopefully give an idea how to fix the missing logo.

What got me suspicious was that last thing AFTER the Finished sign as I didin;t get that error in any of my previous failed flash attempts. However now that I read it carefully, it doesn't seem relevant to the issue at hand.

It's all explained. If you lose the LG logo then changing the bootanimation.zip will not help you - basically there's nothing on your phone to load up that animation...

Just do what it says in my post and you'll get your logo's and boot animation back.
