[FIX] Fancy Widget 1.3.0 Not Updating Weather Info

All,

First post in ZTE Blade Forum. Finally got my San Fran on Friday. :)

Anyway, I've seen various posts in various threads talking about Fancy Widget not updating weather info. The workaround for this on my San Fran is the same as the workaround I employed for the Pulse.

Here's the goods: http://android.modaco.com/content/t-mobile...g-weather-info/

Hope this helps. As I say, this works 100% for me and my San Fran! :)

Have you explained how to edit the file though? What program do you use to load up the xml file and alter it?

You can use gedit or nano if running Linux, or Wordpad if running Windows.

Use:

adb pull /data/data/com.fancywidget.android/shared_prefs/com.fancywidget.android_preferences.xml
to grab the file. Edit away. Use:
adb push com.fancywidget.android_preferences.xml /data/data/com.fancywidget.android/shared_prefs/com.fancywidget.android_preferences.xml

To upload the edited xml file.

Thanks for sharing.

How can I check if my widget isn't updating the weather info anymore ?

Does this only apply to cities with a space in their name ? E.g. San Francisco ?

Thanks

Ah right I was referring to being able to edit the file via the phone, I thought there might be an editor app that you could load it into to make the relevant changes. Would you need root permissions to see/edit the config file?

Mine seems to be updating itself . First time i ran it it located my position ( through the network not gps ) . i changed the update time to every 15 minutes so i could monitor it and its been updating . could it be a rom related issue ??

I can confirm this is a ROM related issue.

The Fancy Widget 1.3.0 works fine on MoDaCo R4 2.1, but on Froyo Alpha, it does NOT work ! (neither does your fix, sadly enough..)

I'm on the standard orange rom that came with the phone and its not updating.

Yeah, if you have root access get RootExplorer from the market, you have to pay but well worth the money

Depending on which rom you are using you may need to update the su binaries for it to work
