Guest germcevoy Posted November 7, 2010 Report Posted November 7, 2010 Anybody else disappointed with audio playback? Apart from the well discussed skipping issue I do find the device to be lacking in volume output via headphones. Is there a limit applied or any option to lift that restriction? I'm on my second Blade and felt the volume poor on each. Any thoughts?

Yep its rubbish, its about half that of an iPod, however there does appear to be a reason for this, I downloaded a player from the market, sorry but its name escapes me now, and it had a volume boost feature, it did boost the volume greatly but my battery died in a little over 2 hrs, so it seems to be restriced to this volume to preserve battery life. Basically you can forget music on this phone. FM radio is lower volume again
Guest xionation Posted November 7, 2010 Report Posted November 7, 2010 I agree, if anyone knows anything about how to boost the volume its very much appreciated :). ( I Don't Care If The Battery Dies Quicker) :)

It has been covered already here http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blad...e-music-louder/ if you follow the advise given you can make the volume at a level that should be more than adequate. I find that using ear canal headphones and using Poweramp helps also. BTW poweramp doesn't seem to suffer from the jittering audio.
Guest dj9928 Posted November 7, 2010 Report Posted November 7, 2010 Lithium music player, that is the app I used

Have been pleasantly surprised with the the MP3 playing abilities of this phone. I have used stock player, Winamp and Poweramp and all are good

On my ipod if I turn it up full blast I feel vibrations in my ears, on the SF I could fart and hear it over the top of the music.
Guest cmberry20 Posted November 7, 2010 Report Posted November 7, 2010 Or your SF is faulty?

Its not quite as loud as my ipod (which is not faulty as i compare to ipod nano and touch) but as I said it is on a par. Seriously if you can hear a fart on full volume you have a problem. I guess I am one of the lucky ones, which there are a few jusging by similar comments on the other MP3/volume threads

Guest john306 Posted November 7, 2010 Report Posted November 7, 2010 If I have my SF on full volume it literally blows my earwax out, it's really loud
Guest Brianrh Posted November 8, 2010 Report Posted November 8, 2010 I agree, if anyone knows anything about how to boost the volume its very much appreciated . ( I Don't Care If The Battery Dies Quicker) I don't know if it would help but I often use MP3Gain to boost and normalise the sound levels on podcasts before loading them on my Walkman. MP3Gain can be found at: http://mp3gain.sourceforge.net/download.php Regards. Brian

Hi Cobhc Is that the volume boosting or the normalising that destroys the dynamics as I obviously don't notice it with the speech in podcasts. The normalisation option can be deselected if it is that spoils the music. Brian
Guest cobhc Posted November 8, 2010 Report Posted November 8, 2010 (edited) Hi Cobhc Is that the volume boosting or the normalising that destroys the dynamics as I obviously don't notice it with the speech in podcasts. The normalisation option can be deselected if it is that spoils the music. Brian There isn't much problem with boosting the volume of older albums that were mastered quieter to begin with, compared to albums that are positively crushed in the mastering process these days. The normaliser as far as I can tell tries to make all songs the same volume so I guess that could have an effect also. If the volume booster has an option to select the peak volume as the limit for it to work up to, then I'd suggest nothing louder than maybe -9db. I usually master to around that, or maybe -10 if there is a lot of dynamic parts in the song. It's generally not advised to boost the volume on anything but the actual amplifier, but if you don't notice much loss of dynamics or distortion, then by all means, use what makes it sound good to you.
