Forced Back to WM 6.1

Hi Everyone,

Having flashed my phone innumerable times, I've gone back to windows mobile 6.1 as till now that is the only which runs stably for a long time. I've also found it to be faster than wm 6.5. I wish I could get some feedback from others on what version works for them. At least I'd stop moving back and forth. Despite reading through so many posts and using different roms I still have the ring delay, which is shortest with wm 6.1.

I have to say I never tried WM6.1 as my phone came with 6.5 so I kept messing with 6.5 or 6.5.3. I heard that 6.1 is faster but, are there any major features missing?

I find it faster, especially considering it doesn't go ram-starved after a while. The only thing that I found better in 6.5 was the eye candy. Can't think of anything that is missing. It is still possible to scroll using fingers as the samsung touchwiz does an ok job (problem if you have fat fingers).

also for me 6.1 is the best wm on our device ! the only thing i miss is that is less touch friendly and it hasn't got the threated sms view ...

i have an idea: can anyone upload all the 6.1 roms ? i start first :rolleyes:

hi jappoman. i was using dask exp36 rom from its started, but now i was using 6.5.3 and its much better like exp36. Have you upload dask. lite 6.1 rom i can t find it nowhere in forum?

Daskalos' WM6.1 Lite ROM was removed by it's creator. I used it, but X36 is way better.

mine is STOCK wm 6.1 XX (multilanguage) II6 rom :rolleyes: a rarity hihi !!! :huh:

I observed that the loss in ram was caused by the windows start menu, thus disabling the start menu and using the samsung menu prevents ram leaks, so I'm staying with 6.5

Experiment 36; after first boot 113.51 MB RAM free. Fast and stable*. There's nothing like it.

Dear Chefs : Any chance we can have more custom WM6.1 ROMs to play with? Pretty please? :rolleyes: Not that I dislike x36 but more choice would be nice.

(* Until this morning it was fast and stable. :huh: Now device.exe uses all available CPU for no apparent reason ... :huh: damn)

Before buying B7610 I had SE Xperia X1. I tried lots of roms on it, but stuck with wm6.1 in the end.

I never really figured why people so desperately try to run memory-cpu-gpu intensive front ends on devices they were never meant to be run on.

The last X1 rom I flashed took 34MB of ram on boot, and had ~165MB free. It was blazing fast, and a real joy to work on. Too bad for the small screen.

I also have Asus P535 with wm6.1 on it. It eats 19MB of ram on boot. It's also killing fast.

My point is: B7610 is cpu/hardware wise much faster than the aforementioned , but when I load wm6.5+ rom it behaves sluggish, eats lots of ram, lags and it's not really joy to work on.

Even overclocking to 900Mhz doesn't help to save the day.

I need B7610 to behave like a capable micro-pc. I want opera, putty, total commander, network shares and all the other tools that mean something to me to work FINE on 900Mhz.

I guess it simply depends on what you need and want from a mobile phone. I want a small PC, and not a mobile phone actually. 6.1 is for me A++.
