Guest anacreontic Posted February 7, 2003 Report Posted February 7, 2003 I want to pick up my ntl emails on my SPV but ntl don't offer this option (I think!?). I have been told to use web2mail but that won't seem to work either. Anyone out there successfully picking up web2mail email or even better ntl email? What's the secret? My old Nokia moby worked a treat on btinternet emails but so far ntl and spv don't mix even with web2mail
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted February 7, 2003 Report Posted February 7, 2003 I pick up my ntl email no problem :) Just go to the options in your inbox and choose email setup. It will walk you throught the whole process.
Guest anacreontic Posted February 9, 2003 Report Posted February 9, 2003 I have tried but every time I go through the delivery cycle I get asked for my password again even though I know it is correct. When I phoned ntl helpline they say "we don't support mail to mobiles, try web2mail". Any chance you could tell me your settings for POP and SMTP please. If you have it working then there is hope for me yet!
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted February 9, 2003 Report Posted February 9, 2003 Strange as I have no problems at all. Did you remember to set up the incoming mail server as pop.ntlworld.com ? also I have minr set up to save password.
Guest almark Posted February 16, 2003 Report Posted February 16, 2003 I need your help. I have broadband ntl on my home system and plenty of free pop email addresses available. So I created a new account spv.fone@ntlworld etc I put in the incoming server as pop.ntlworld.com and the outgoing as smtp.orange.net (as I believe this si the only one that works??) Anyway, when I send recieve I get a message : The following errors... unable to connect to the incoming mail server. Verify that the server name is correct and then try again. I the server name is OK, but I still get this error. It goes to 'dialling', then 'connecting' then 'Errors'. Any ideas?
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted February 16, 2003 Report Posted February 16, 2003 This sounds like you have a user namepassword error did you use the-mail setup in inboxmenuoptions as the settings you have listed are correct.
Guest anacreontic Posted February 16, 2003 Report Posted February 16, 2003 Thanks for your help, I had a password problem at ntl webmail end, the phone or it's settings was never at fault as it turns out. Email to SPV working fine now. :)
