windows phone 7 on omnia possible?

Hi Folks,

I was just wondering now windows phone 7 is now GA, what are the chances of backporting the o/s from a current win phone 7 to the omnia?

possible/impossible?

No chance WP7 will appear on Omnia. Omnia struggles to perform tasks that the Omnia 7 doesnt even think about.

There are many reasons this will never happen....

- Hardware Restrictions (CPU, RAM, ROM, lack of GPU)

- Driver issues

- List whatever you want here :huh:

I couldnt resist, people get shot down for asking this on other forums too, its been seen running happily on the HTC HD2, but that is a beast on a device, it can run most OS'es.

Good luck, if you ever pull it off, you should win a prize for that.

If you want WP7 get a WP7 device, time to upgrade, no? :huh:

HTC HD2 is probably the best dev device out there, got one myself, WP7 seems interesting on it.

Well, maybe not WP7. But we can try to mimic this with some help from flash.

Building an serious standalone flash app is possible, but only for the real Mccoy.

Dude, its time to move on! The omnia is fading into the past and its time to let go. Theres some good reasonable contracts available now and I hope by the new year it will get more competative and cheaper for most of us to have a WP7 device therefore I'm not sure its worth the time and money to try to make the impossible to work.

or throttle launcher with this theme- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=662034 , this one is my favorite and probably the closest thing to the real deal. Try using a Ultra Lite rom and a "free Ram" program every now and then to speed things up when it gets laggy.

Once you try it on your omnia you will see that even if you could get the real thing working that the omnia's screen is just too small for the whole experience.

I'd say that Optus has the best deals for now in Australia. who are you with?
