Benchmarks for San Francisco / ZTE Blade

I've seen all these folks saying how much faster the Froyo ROMs were and I actually couldn't feel any difference. My beautiful widgets was much slower but that was it. So I went in search of a benchmark and found this one it gave me some numbers (below) but also did a comparison which said my £100 San Fran was faster than a Galaxy S. My numbers are:

Total - 990

CPU - 3403

MEM - 749

I/O - 363

2d - 103

3d - 336

New to android so very happy for someone to tell me a better b'mark for comparisons?

I am using gforums Froyo.

Im using same rom with launcher pro and i get similar results.

Using the Modaco r4 custom ROM (So that's 2.1), and using Launcher Pro I get:

Total - 392

CPU - 368

MEM - 774

I/O - 440

2d - 99

3d - 278

Your Total and CPU are way different to mine. If that's the improvement with Froyo, then I can't wait to install a fully-working version

Using Froyo alpha 1 rom, my results are almost exactly the same as yours

I'm not sure how reliable this benchmark is, our CPU benchmark looks suspect to me

Hmmmm.. That CPU benchmark in 2.2 does look a little spurious and therefore skews the total. Happy to be proven wrong though. 3d looks about 20% faster in 2.2 anyway, so that's good news.

I/O is lower in 2.2. What does that measure? SD card?

I can't comment on how good a b'mark prog it is or how it gets these scores. Doing a web search it does look like the CPU scores we are getting are huge with these froyo ROMs.

I have now tried linpack see here and got 7.192 MFLOPS. You can see here how that compares with other devices. Doesn't look bad to me.

Okay, using the Modaco r4 custom ROM and Linpack I get 4 Mflops/sec.

That's a big difference (unless I'm doing something wrong). I was expecting them to be similar.

froyo uses a JIT compiler and therefore drastically improves performance.

that explains why you have more mflops with a froyo rom, cpu score is much better (maybe too good) and everyone is so keen on getting it

quadrant says your phone is better than galaxy s, but galaxy s has a some problem with its stock 2.1 rom. there are several lagfixes out there so galaxy s with 2.1 can archieve almost 1900 score in quadrant with 2.1 and with 2.2 its about the same. we have a score of 9xx with 2.2. and maybe a score of >1000 with 2.2 and overclocked kernel  everthing should be smooth then.

Yeah, I knew that Froyo was supposed to have better performance, but I didn't realise the difference would be so great, especially when some people said Froyo felt sluggish. I suppose that could be down to the Alpha ROM.

Anyhoo, I too hope we will see a stable 2.2 and an overclocked kernel in the near future
