Guest amd3000 Posted November 10, 2010 Report Posted November 10, 2010 hi Guys, Recently installed 'Quick Settings' from Android Market on standard Orange Rom. Did not like it so un-installed. Ever since then start-up has been real slow and scrolling has become sluggish. Have cured the latter by killing as many tasks as possible. Anyway.... is there such a thing as a 'soft reset' which will re-write startup files and speed things up? or is a factory reset the only way to cure this and if i do will i lose my network unlock. Prior to this problem memory was at around 30% and cpu hovered at 14% when idle. Am now stuck with memory at 40% and cpu fluctuates between 20 to 40% and seems constantly busy. Have used OSMonitor and cant see what is using the extra resources. Am a bit p_ssed off because everything was perfect before and now its not :-( All suggestions and advice welcome so thanks in advance. Not sure if its related or not but if i re-boot battery percentage drops by 10%

Not sure if its related or not but if i re-boot battery percentage drops by 10% My battery loose's alot off charge upon a restart and fars i know only a reflash off the rom (clockwork recovery) or a reset (settings, privacy, factory data reset) will work. Someoe as said before removing you back cover there is a small hole near your sim/memory card that resets your phone (never tried this, so don't knw if it works). This will wipe everything thats not saved on yor sim/memory card so backup your contacts first. Upon restart you could go back into the privacy menu and click backup settings (backs up to googles servers) but i wouldn't know how this works. You will not loose your unlock if you did it via imei (inserted a different network sim etc) Edit: was just thinking wouldn't a root explorer not sort this out by going into the system/app folder (phone needs to be rooted) or try reinstalling the program and then remove it with a uninstall app instead off the built in one Edited November 10, 2010 by cobalt01

Think i will root and see if i can sort it out before i resort to flattening it and starting over :-) Edited November 11, 2010 by amd3000
