Charging while phone is switched OFF

I am trying to charge my SF, while it is off, but it powers ON automatically.

Also there is (?) symbol appearing on battery icon in taskbar.

When I go to battery status it says unknown.

I really do not know if phone is charging or not while it is plugged into wall socket using the supplied USB charger.

Any one experienced this thing, or is my phone/battery or may be both are faulty?

This is not normal behaviour.

My suggestion would be to remove the battery, have a cup of coffee (a short time delay), and then VERY gently make sure that all the contacts on both battery and phone are clean and not obstructed by any packaging residue, before carefully reassembling and trying again.

If its still unhappy, take or send it back.

Seems a faulty device/battery.

Have arranged for a replacement now.
