Guest popoyaya Posted November 10, 2010 Report Posted November 10, 2010 (edited) being new to android, one of the reasons i've stuck with the froyo alpha rom was the simplicity of it's app2sd implementation - no tedious linux formatting of sd card. but as hardly any apps let you install to the card i've started to get the dreaded "memory low" message regularly, even with just 20 or 30 apps installed. i thought i was going to have to go with the ext partition method until i spotted this way to force sd install on ppcgeeks.com: "Turn on USB Debugging, connect to your PC with AndroidSDK installed. From a command prompt, type adb devices to make sure your device shows up. If it does, then type adb shell pm setInstallLocation 2 to enable Install to SD Card as the default install method. You should also be able to move apps between Phone and SD now. If you want to disable it again, type adb shell pm setInstallLocation 0. You might need to be rooted for this to work." anyone tried this with froyo alpha? i've yet to dabble in adb but i think the moment has come. Edited November 10, 2010 by popoyaya
Guest flatnote31 Posted November 10, 2010 Report Posted November 10, 2010 (edited) This is why Dark Tremor's A2SD tops, because it forces all apps to SD and installs all by default there...need to get it working properly though! EDIT: Just installed RGB4 Froyo Rom and set the install location to 2 (external), as the default is 0 (Auto). It works fine  Edited November 11, 2010 by flatnote31
