Guest piperboy Posted November 10, 2010 Report Posted November 10, 2010 Hi there guys and girls, I'm pretty new to this Android thing and have just received my San Francisco today from Orange. I have loaded the R3 Superboot image using the forum post with video and am downloading to Android SDK so as to adb push across the R4 tar. While that SDK downloads all the necessary files, I thought I would connect it to my Orange broadband livebox Wifi... Now I know the Wifi works as I have a laptop accessing the internet through it here, but I could not for the love of god get the SF to connect! I changed the security settings on the livebox from WEP to WPA to no security but it would just not connect! It sees the livebox but just reverts back to BTopen whatever the network is called. Anyone got a clue and wishes to share it with me!?

Anyone got a clue and wishes to share it with me!? I have the older but same Wanadoo livebox on a wpa key and the blade works fine. drops out after a screen lock sometimes but connects fine. I shoulx add that I connected initially 7nder the orange firmware but works still in clockwork r3 an r4. using r3 now as it works best for me. are you pressing the 1 button on the box to enable setup mode?
Guest piperboy Posted November 10, 2010 Report Posted November 10, 2010 I am have pressed the 1 button to enable pairing mode but no avail. will try again once I have rooted it to the modaco rom. Maybe a livebox update could help!?
Guest piperboy Posted November 13, 2010 Report Posted November 13, 2010 Ok, have solved my Wifi issues: What I read in other forums was that if you change your security key from 26 alphanumerical to a 13 alphanumerical it works. I changed mine and it works!! So: Change Security Key on wifi router to a 13 alphanumerical key!! It worked for me!
Guest piperboy Posted November 14, 2010 Report Posted November 14, 2010 Made me laugh... Here is the reply from Tech support at Orange: Dear XXXX, Thank you for your email. I would advise factory resetting your Livebox to resolve your connection issue. Slow speed or intermittant connections are often caused by thunderstorms or static electricity on the line affecting the Router (Livebox), making it unstable (line regrades can also cause a router to become unstable). The solution is to perform a factory reset of your Livebox. I would advise if you are unsure of the below guide you call our technical support line for assistance. Please click below for a guide to resetting your Livebox. http://help.orange.co.uk/orangeuk/support/...2&SecMode=1 After completing the factory reset you will need to re-enter your username and password through the configuration pages. You can use your installation CD to do this or alternatively follow the below guide (note you may need to disable your firewall whilst doing this to access the Livebox configuration pages) http://help.orange.co.uk/orangeuk/support/...2&SecMode=1 Remember also to push the pairing button marked 'one' again at the back of the livebox to allow the Livebox to accept your current wifi connections (as its current memory will have been wiped). If you have any further queries then please do not hesitate to get in contact with us again. Kind Regards Dave Broadband Support
Guest Willz Posted January 2, 2011 Report Posted January 2, 2011 Just bumping this since I have had this issue ever since I tried getting on with my T-Mobile Pulse. It seems changing the WEP key helped the OP but I was wondering, is that okay to do? I didn't realise you could change your WEP to whatever you wanted. As mine is 26 letters/numbers..
Guest Uncle_Meat Posted January 2, 2011 Report Posted January 2, 2011 Bear in mind that WEP is quite insecure, if you have any savvy geeks within range you could end up in a bit of trouble.. I seem to recall the Livebox using a dual-mode WEP/WPA thingy for supposed "compatibility" which can freak out some wifi adapters. Maybe try setting to just WPA and just the single (Again, unsure if the livebox has this settings. Going from brandy-soaked memory here) TKIP or AES encryption.
