WiFi problems after root, help?

Hello everyone, i'm completely new to this hence the forum i'm in.

I followed the unlockr to rooting the HTC Legend, step by step, and it worked perfectly fine i have the superuser permission program, and also thanks to Paul with his smarts on Rooting!

Now the only problem is i can't sync to anything. Facebook, G mail, can't go on the internet or the android market. I have a working WiFi connection and I AM connected but every time i go to sync i get this error:

"You don't have a network connection"

"This could be a temporary problem or your phone may not be provisioned for data services."

I've noticed on the internet most people have a similar problem but there error message reads:

"This could be a temporary problem or your SIM card my not be provisioned for data services."

Mine doesn't say SIM, it says phone. I've tried so much to fix this, i even bought a new SIM card and still no luck.

any help, information, links, programs would be great full
