Right. It's 3:30am, so excuse any typos.

I'm not going to lie, i'm very new to flashing, and chanig software I shouldn't be, which has made this experience.... Difficult

So. What happened? Whilst flashing recovery mod on the dell streak, I now get the problem where I can't get past the Dell logo screen.

So i've tried everything, before, I had the clockwork recovery mod, so i couldn't simply 'update with update.pkg' because it sent me to teh recovery mod.

So i installed the stock mod. So now I just get a blank screen when i hit update,

So I tried factory reset. multiple times.

Been using the Android 1.6 software to try and get out of this brick like status for my brick like phone.

I'm sorry this is my first post. I know it's annoying for people to just regiser and ask. But i'm desperate  Sorry guys.

Anyone help?

EDIT: Look modaco, i'll leave this open in case anyone wants to try and offer an explanation. But i'm now running froyo V 1.1 by DJ steve....

Right, tried to upgrade it to 1.2, so, installed clockwork mod in fastbook.

AND WE'RE BACK TO THE BRICKED DELL.

Id like to help what I can but Im confused with where you're at...

You have to start from the beginning...what Android version was the last one you were on before you got stuck at the Dell Logo.

What are you trying to update to?

There are 2 kinds of recovery types... Stock Recovery (4 options that loads after booting to recovery) and Custom (Koush's Custom Recovery. If flashed, it loads after selecting Option 2 on the Stock Recovery).

hey Guys, basically. I was on an o2 phone, upgraded to 2.1, after installuing clockwork recovery mod, It bricked.

After much trial and error, i've literally just got to a point where it's stukck on a loading screen, but instead of it being just the dell logo, it's there, but keeps going purple animation. Which I think is the loading screen for android froyo?

As i'm typing this the loading screen is back on just the Dell logo. Fail.

I'm at school at the moment anyway, so unable to change back to stock mod.

To clear things up. This is what's happened

  • Started with Dell Streak V2.1 Build 8xxx something....
Use superboot on it, worked fine
    Used clockwork mod. Epicly bricked.
Then, from what I can work out, I did the following steps.
    Formatted,
Installed V1 of the foroy by DJ steve
    Still nothing.
    Installed original recovery.
    Reformat
Tried loading the original stock PLG (v1.6 as seen here
http://android.modaco.com/content/dell-str...pdate-o2-only/)
I left it on the side as it was doing the update, ALSO NOTE, Every time i hit, update via update.apk, i got a black screen,
after leaving on this black screen, I ended up with froyo v1 Not sure how. It happened.
Next, i decided tio put the clockwork mod on there again to upgrade to v1.2
And i'm back where i started, whem I get home I will repeat the above steps, and report back, as i've seen many other modaco users with similar issues.

Just to clarify

BRICKED = no fastboot, no bootloader, no recovery

Looking at your post you had all these options, bricked is the land of no return - if you can access the bootloader and fastboot then you can always flash a new rom

yep, i've had to hanging on boot / repeating boot loop several times,

i'd suggest that you go into fastboot mode and update system/userdata/boot.img. you might lose your installed apps etc but at least you'll have a functioning phone.

good explanation

i find it funny how people jump to conclusions when they panic lol. usually read all the instructions before starting anything helps but not pointing fingers or saying you didnt do that.

to OP, if you have access to any of the above don't panic. your streak can be recovered

You're going all over the place with no clear direction... Keep in mind, there are different Custom Recovery files for 1.6, and 2.1. Not to mention you gotta use a differnt recovery altogether (STOCK RECOVERY) if you're flashing a STOCK ROM no matter whether its 1.6, 2.1, or 2.2 you're installing. With that said, if you've got Stephen's ROM installed on there, then you can flash the Custom Recovery for 2.1 and you should be ok.

Dont worry, I've had to flash custom recovery 3 times in a row just to make sure it sticks before I actually rebooted the phone. Once you're certain youre custom recovery is installed, then you can flash any of Stephen's ROMS. (V1, V1.1, V1.1.1, V1.2)

EDIT: Forgot to mention... more a reminder... 1.2 of Stephen's Froyo requires baseband update. Depending on your device, and the ROM for 1.2 you downloaded, you may need to flash this first before flashing the 1.2 ROM.

My mistake, I was using it as slang, Ithought it cuonted as bricked, sorry!

Okay, when going into fastboot, how do you update said file(s)?

Would it be just running superboot... again?

EDIT. just found this post Will try when I get home in a couple of hours, as well as the above.

So. What's been happening?

Nothing. Sieriously have got no where. In any case i think i've gone backwards, instead of having the froyo loading animation, I now have the Dell logo constant, I'm going to leave it like it is on the-

I type this. It jynexs the phone. I must be getting somewhere.

Installed v 1.1.1

I flashed the baseband to amss 2.1

And now I guess i'lll leave the phone how it is and hope for the best..

EDIT. I am now running v 1.1.1. Nice. Now some simple steps incase anyone finds this in a search and goes a little nuts it's not working.

Right. So these are the steps I took to get it working, people can mention if a step is not needed, but this worked.

  • Oh noez. Logo screen. badword.
Factory reset in Clockwork recovery/Screen got to by holding volume buttons with the power.
    Now, use this:
Stock recovery (as shipped with build 6941) -
http://www.mediafire.com/?ymmy94x1hrvo0pq - MD5: 2fecd8e5266da024af4c3a26939ae6a8
Put your Dell streak into fastboot, and double click 'install-recovery-windows'
once that's done, install v 1.1.1 of DJ Steve's Android.
Now, for the pain in the arse.
You will need to download amss-2.1.mbn from here and put that in the folder with fastboot.
Load into boot loader, cd to folder of fastboot in command promt.
Now type. fastboot -i 0x413c flash amss amss-2.1.mbn
Wait for that to do it's thing.
Now type fastboot -i 0x413c reboot whilst holding the volume buttons down.
Factory reset.
Leave and hope to the good lord it works.
