Guest Freekers Posted November 11, 2010 Report Posted November 11, 2010 (edited) Could anyone recommand me an alternative gallery app ? The built-in gallery app (http://www.appbrain.com/app/gallery-3d/com.cooliris.media) in the R4 ROM eats CPU for dinner thus consuming a lot of battery Thanks ! Edited November 11, 2010 by Freekers
Guest dadashi Posted November 11, 2010 Report Posted November 11, 2010 please, me too... The standard Gallery is a b**ch.....It's either hoarding the cpu scanning for files, taking forever to open a file or picture, or not working at all!!! My SF is jamm packed with pics and vids and Gallery says "there are no items in your collection"!!!!!
Guest AndyHibberd Posted November 11, 2010 Report Posted November 11, 2010 Heeeeeey guys. My dad had the same problem after I bought him the 16gig card and he loaded over 5000 photos onto the device. I found that this is a very good replacement: Nice thing about this app is that it connects to other popular online picture systems. JustPictures! lets you browse photos from Picasa, Flickr, Smugmug, Facebook, Photobucket, Windows Live, Tumblr and your SDCARD, in a unified and clean UI. Guest Freekers Posted November 11, 2010 Report Posted November 11, 2010 Sounds good ! Thanks for the tip ! Is it safe to remove the builtin gallery app ?
Guest dadashi Posted November 11, 2010 Report Posted November 11, 2010 I've tried and it's not removeable. I'm using Pauls R4...
Guest rjm2k Posted November 11, 2010 Report Posted November 11, 2010 I've tried and it's not removeable. I'm using Pauls R4... can be removed by mounting system rw and deleting the apk, haven't tried this myself though

Guest dadashi Posted November 11, 2010 Report Posted November 11, 2010 (edited) thanks, i used titanium on Pauls R4 to remove gallery... I've installed "just pictures" as an alternative for pictures and "arc media" for films...Astro has a good image viewer function as well... Edited November 11, 2010 by dadashi
Guest ezablade Posted November 11, 2010 Report Posted November 11, 2010 Again, probably been posted before, but, hard to search when you don't know the terminology used in the post... So, you've removed an apk, but, Manage Applications still shows an entry for it, usually 0.00b in size. This particularly happens when you flash a ROM with the apk removed that was previously installed, e.g.guitar hero and touchpal.

Is there a way to delete that entry in the Manage Applications list too ?
Guest misterLjay Posted December 5, 2010 Report Posted December 5, 2010 This thread sorted me out, deleted Gallery using Titanium Backup and downloaded Just Pictures. It even sorted out the duplicate issue I had with gallery on Paul's Custom Froyo rom. Cheers again.

B&B Gallery Hasn't that one been removed from the market ?
Guest mELIANTE Posted December 5, 2010 Report Posted December 5, 2010 (edited) I deodexed this gallery3d apk from a Nexus One update rom. It solved the original gallery problems in my Blade. Try it and see if it helps. PS: You have to unzip it, the forum doesn't allow me to upload .apk files.com.cooliris.media.zip Edited December 5, 2010 by mELIANTE
