Guest n99 Posted November 11, 2010 Report Posted November 11, 2010 Hello My screen stopped responding to touch this am after I restarted the phone. No other signs of anthing about to go wrong I've managed to get into clockworkMod recovery and reverted to a orange rom backuo made just after installing clockwork and superuser. Scrren still doesn't respond at all I guess I need to return to Orange but was going to try and go back to the stock images and recovery but without the touch screen I can seem to mount the phone to get access. Even the mount options through clockworkMod don't mount any thing against my ubuntu? Any advice greatly appreciated. Cheers

Guest n99 Posted November 12, 2010 Report Posted November 12, 2010 Okay fastbook works for the stock recovery and boot images but when I tried last nighton my laptop: fastboot-linux flash system [local path to stock.zip] I got an error (sorry can't remember) - maybe this expects an image? or fastboot-linux update [local path to stock.zip] I got archive does not contain 'android-info.txt' archive does not contain 'android-product.txt' I think for the stock zip to work it has to be loaded with clockwork recovery? Looking else where it seems that as I've a broken screen and there is no way to mount the sdcard in the phone on the cmd line, I needed to take out the sdcard and mount through another device to copy [stick.zip] to the card. I did this today using my ubuntu desktop at work and a card reader but now clockwork recovery or fastboot can't see the sd card in the phone! I've tried mount /sdcard from the clockwork recovery menu but I get an error E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 (or /dev/block/mmcblk0) (Invalid argument) Error mounting SDCARD:! Fastboot just says < waiting for device > and hangs... Help?!
Guest goatee Posted November 12, 2010 Report Posted November 12, 2010 Do you have a customised boot screen? Even if you do, I reckon if you take it in to an Orange shop, they won't know the difference and should swap it for you.

No it comes up with the green android screen and stays there as I seemed to have broke the rom image by running fastboot-linux flash system [stock.zip] I bought it over the phone. Everything I've read gives the impression you must return to stock before getting a replacement.........?

If it's busy, and you start making a fuss, they're going to want to get rid of you. . .

I might have to go down that route- cheers for the advice (ps did you ring back telesales or orange customer services?) Also just noticed clockwork recovery has a mount USB storage option that I think I should have used last night to transfer the stock.zip to the sd card. This a hard learning curve! Can anyone else help before I do as dealerstealer suggests? cheers Edited November 12, 2010 by n99
