Guest Dildano Posted November 11, 2010 Report Posted November 11, 2010 After buying an Orange San Fran and successfully Rooting / ClockWorkModding and updating to Froyo 2.2. I bought another one..... and this is where I got a bit cocky. I charged it, rooted it cwm'd, backed it up and upgraded to FY2.2. What I had not done was put the Orange SIM in it to check it was working nor unlocked it with a code (I did both the first time round). It booted and looked sweet, popped a Voda SIM in it and got "No Service" message, popped the Orange SIM in, same message. So..... I figured maybe it's locked, restored the Orange Android got an unlock code and unlocked it, unlocked OK but still "No Service" with either SIM. Last resort, call Orange's wonderful call centre (India I think) they say the SIM was not activated, no credit and phone was shipped blacklisted (Aparently standard practice for contract but this was payg and should have shipped activated). First call, guy says this will all be active in 2 hours, second call 6 hours later, guy says he has sent an activation e-mail (never arrives) another 12 hours later another call, lady says the activation texts might take 24 hours and the credit might take 72 hours and she will personally take ownership of the issue and call me back on my alternative number. Now it's over 48 hours after the first call, no call back and still no service. Is this likely to be something I did wrong or Orange being incompetent or maybe a faulty ZTE? Any ideas how to fix? If the unit is faulty, will the mods I made be undetectable if removed so I can return it to Orange?
Guest sikhcentral Posted November 11, 2010 Report Posted November 11, 2010 You should be able to be restore back to the original rom there is a topic on that do a search. In regards to the no service notification my phone and my brothers did that when I changed sim but I restarted and put the sim back in a gain and it seemed to work. Maybe the sim slot is a bit iffy.

Hey, thanks for the quick reply, found the "Stock ROM Download" post so should be able to get back to factory, probably just need to flash boot and recovery partitions 'cos recovered the system from ClockWorkMod standard backup. Tried different SIMS & numerous reboots so may be going back to Orange.
Guest StevenHarperUK Posted November 11, 2010 Report Posted November 11, 2010 did you buy it in store or online?
Guest LorianNod Posted November 11, 2010 Report Posted November 11, 2010 I bought mine online and went here to activate it: https://www.ishop.orange.co.uk/ishop/ishop_activation.jsp
Guest TheTwiddler Posted November 11, 2010 Report Posted November 11, 2010 I bought mine online and went here to activate it: https://www.ishop.orange.co.uk/ishop/ishop_activation.jsp Just to check the obvious - you did put the SIM in the right way around - didn't you? (cutout facing the battery) It caught my mate out - so it did!
Guest Dildano Posted November 11, 2010 Report Posted November 11, 2010 I bought mine online and went here to activate it: https://www.ishop.orange.co.uk/ishop/ishop_activation.jsp Ah ha, that's the link guy number 2 in India must have been using, he asked me for my password (great security) when I said I didn't have it he said I'd get a mail and an activation link. Problem is, I don't recall entering an e-mail address or password on the website which would explain why I did not get the mail.

Guest Dildano Posted November 12, 2010 Report Posted November 12, 2010 All looks factory now, but the phone is still unlocked, anyone know how to simlock it back to Orange?
Guest goatee Posted November 12, 2010 Report Posted November 12, 2010 All looks factory now, but the phone is still unlocked, anyone know how to simlock it back to Orange? Don't think you can simlock it - though you can unlock it without voiding your warranty, so shouldn't be an issue.
