Guest rbbrslmn Posted November 11, 2010 Report Posted November 11, 2010 Hello, I've seen a message on my SF today "Internal Memory Full". Is there a way to use the SD and take the load off the Internal memory please. Thanks Richard there is, you want to install the r4 modaco rom with apps2sd, but before that you want to create an ext2 partition on your sd card. it gets confusing but there is lots of info here and over on villainrom that will help you. villainrom might be the easiest place to look actually as there is a rom with apps2sd enabled by default and also a fairly clear thread about what you need to do.

Guest rjm2k Posted November 11, 2010 Report Posted November 11, 2010 even easier than a2sd on the blade if rooted, since there is a fair amount of space free on the system partition you can always install some of the larger software in there
Guest mario999 Posted November 12, 2010 Report Posted November 12, 2010 How do you install stuff on the system partition?
Guest robot1000 Posted November 12, 2010 Report Posted November 12, 2010 How do you install stuff on the system partition? Using file explorer, copy the apk files straight to your system folder (it will automatically install)
Guest goatee Posted November 12, 2010 Report Posted November 12, 2010 Using file explorer, copy the apk files straight to your system folder (it will automatically install) First you'll need to mount /system as writeable - easiest way to do this is with an app (search the market for "mount system").
Guest robot1000 Posted November 12, 2010 Report Posted November 12, 2010 If you're using 2.2 then check out this article: http://androinica.com/2010/08/03/how-to-in...roid-2-2-froyo/ I've now doubled my app capacity from having 26mb free to 52mb free!!
Guest mnavak Posted November 12, 2010 Report Posted November 12, 2010 Can I instal apps2sd on 2.1 withaout flashing with r4?
Guest goatee Posted November 12, 2010 Report Posted November 12, 2010 Can I instal apps2sd on 2.1 withaout flashing with r4? In theory you can install A2SD, though many people have reported issues trying to get it working, whereas getting a ROM with A2SD support built in, makes for no issues.
Guest seekr Posted November 12, 2010 Report Posted November 12, 2010 I got the r4 a2sd rom running for a few days now. I installed quick system info so I can monitor the A2SD and internal storage. I've noticed that while A2SD was being filled as I installed new stuff the internal storage also started filling. From what I've been reading that should be due to dalvikcache being stored internally by default. I read we can move the cache to A2SD using: a2sd cachesd, in command line. But when I do, I get a2sd command not found. Anyone know how to move dalvik to SD?

With your apps on your SD card, you'll get substantially more space on the phone anyway.
Guest rwalton159 Posted November 13, 2010 Report Posted November 13, 2010 (edited) Not really getting this. 1) Surely you can install apps on your SD that the internal memory will run. This would mean the SF uses its processor and internal memory to run the app but the data etc would be on the SD card. This would save memory on the SF? 2) When I connect the SF to my pc all I see are files on 1 external drive, shouldn't I be able to see the SF as one drive with its memory and the SD within the SF as another drive? Anyone Edited November 13, 2010 by rwalton159
Guest rwalton159 Posted November 14, 2010 Report Posted November 14, 2010 No one seems to know
