Galaxy Tab's Email.apk on the streak?

What are the odds of getting the Galaxy Tab's Email.apk working on the streak?

My co-worker just got his Galaxy Tab and that email client is SWEET... would work perfectly on our 5" screen me thinks.

The .apk is floating around the net and it is working on peoples Galaxy S phones...

but what sort of steps would be involved in getting it working on the streak?

backup the email. apk from system/app then put the email.apk from the tab in its place and reboot.

I'm getting lots of fc's and can't get my emails to show but its a start

clearing data and removing and readding my email accounts worked as far as getting my emails viewable but it force closes when you try and view them

Are they viewable in landscape?

That's the main thing I'm after, the preview window in landscape.

yep but force closes when you switch account, compose and sometimes when you tap on an email so its pretty useless atm

need someone smarter than me to look at the logs. i'll grab some if anyone's interested tomorrow

did anyone tried with the same lcd density of the tab?

I've tried it at 160, 200, 220 and 240 but didn't make any difference

what about comparing logcat results on both the streak and the tab. maybe it will show where the problem lies.. :s

other instructions ive seen say to delete the email.odex file from /system/app which isnt there...

that's the one im using now but it just wont let me compose any email. everything else is working fine (in landscape mode). just one final piece of the puzzle which is composing email. looks sweet otherwise.

Has anyone tried dismantling the apk and seeing what it's calling? Our even running dpms to catch any calls, it sounds like it wants something out of the tab frameworks

if you have any suggestions im willing to give that a shot. the only time mine FCs is the moment it has to compose an email whether new email or to reply to any of them.

Perhaps it's trying to do some custom things to the Tab's custom keyboard, and crashing because it's not present.

i have a feeling it calls the touchwiz framework which is why it works on a galaxy s phone. whats different about this email client that's so appealing tho? the idea of two panes stolen from the ipad email?
